My Top 40 - 01/29/2017

January 29, 2017 | 40 songs

Dua Lipa debuts at #1, The Chainsmokers blocked from the top spot for the second week in a row.

The Chainsmokers' "Paris" stays put at #2 despite an increase in points after last week's strong debut. Blocking it, "Be The One" by British singer Dua Lipa, debuts at #1. Another Dua Lipa track, "Blow Your Mind (Mwah)", reaches a new #13 peak on it's fourth week.

A relative new-comer, Dua is also featured on Sean Paul's "No Lie", which earns Greatest Gainer honors this week by jumping 17 spots to #5. It's Sean Paul biggest hit as a lead artist. As a featured artist, he has reached #1 twice in the last year with "Rockabye" and "Cheap Thrills".

Last week's #1 "I Got You" drops two rungs despite an increase in points. Former #1 "Shape of You" also drops a single spot to #4.

Speaking about "Rockabye", the song regains momentum on it's 11th week as it moves up to #6 from #8.

The Weeknd's "I Feel It Coming" falls out of the top 5 for the first time and is the #7 song this week. Shakira's "Chantaje" moves down 3 spots on it's 11th week, after reaching a #2 high-point. Likewise, after reaching a #7 high, "Alone" by Alan Walker drops to #9, mostly due to both Dua Lipa tracks jumping in front of it.

The lastest Dangerous Woman single reaches top 10 for the first time, as "Everyday", by Ariana Grande and Future moves up two spots. Three tracks leave the top 10 this week: "Castle on the Hill" is down 9-15, former #1 "La Bicicleta is down 6-11 and Sia's "The Greatest" is down 10-21 on it's 19th week.

The week's highest debut is, obviously, "Be The One", but album track "BeFoUr" from Zayn Malik's debut album also starts it's run at #12. Avril Lavigne also rides strong recurrent airplay as two of her early 2000s hit chart this week ("I'm With You" at #31, and "Complicated" re-enters at #38 after spending a week at #16 last year).

Also keep an eye on two new tracks, Martin Garrix and Dua Lipa's "Scared to Be Lonely" and "Run Up" by Major Lazer, PARTYNEXTDOOR and Nicki Minaj. Aside from Dua's obvious chart momentum, Garrix just had a top 10 hit with "In The Name of Love", while Major Lazer and Nicki Minaj have had #1s in the past. "Lonely" starts at #37, while "Run Up" is this week's #40 song.
