My Top 50 - 02/10/2019

February 10, 2019 | 50 songs

Ariana Grande beats Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in close race for #1.

Ariana Grande's "7 rings" becomes her fourth consecutive #1 on it's fourth week on the chart. It follows "God is a woman", "breathin" and "thank u, next". The lead single from Sweetener, "no tears left to cry" was blocked at #2 by Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa's "One Kiss" which ruled the chart for 15 weeks. Grande had previously reached #1 with Dangerous Woman singles "Into You" and "Side to Side" featuring Nicki Minaj. From a few hours of points alone, two new thank u, next songs enter at #28 ("bloodline") and #30 ("break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored", which will serve as the album's third single). The title track drops three to #9 after ruling the chart for three weeks.

What looked like a very easy second week at #1 for Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper turned into a really close race, but in the end "Shallow" falls a spot after crowning last week's chart. The song still posts an increase in points and might remain competitive if it can survive against the new Ariana Grande songs. "Always Remember Us This Way" by Lady Gaga, also from A Star is Born is this week's Greatest Gainer at #20, while Gaga and Cooper's "I'll Never Love Again" enters at #50.

Back at it's #3 peak is Mark Ronson's collaboration with Miley Cyrus, "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart", after 10 weeks on the chart. #1 hit "Sunflower" falls one to #4 for Post Malone and Swae Lee. Another collaboration is at #5, this time Normani and Sam Smith with "Dancing with a Stranger", which has gone as high as #4 so far.

Ava Max's first entry on the chart continues rising, this time up three rungs  to #6 for "Sweet but Psycho". Stable for another week at #7, Halsey's four week champion "Without Me".

Billie Eilish gets her first two entries on the chart this week, and what an entrance: "bury a friend" is this week's highest debut at #8, while "when the party's over" enters at #43. The American singer's first studio album is due for release soon, but she has quietly racked up a few sleeper hits on streaming platforms since 2017, including a collaboration with Khalid, "lovely".

Ellie Goulding, Diplo and Swae Lee close the top 10 with their top three hit "Close To Me", down two.

"Swan Song" is looking like another top 10 hit for Dua Lipa, up six spots to #11 on it's second week. Lipa's latest #1 hit, "Electricity" with Silk City, shows some impressive legs and goes up four spots to #16 on it's 23rd week. "Lucky Strike" is the sixth top 20 entry for Troye Sivan at #18. It follows "Dance to This" (#5), "My My My!" (#9), "Plum" (#13), "1999" (#11) and "Seventeen" (#19). The title track from his album Bloom reached #22 last year as well.
