It's that time again on the ajmkv charts! Week 7 of 2021 is here, so let's dive into it.
Antonia's "Taifun" reigns for a second week, only barely edging out the competition. Hot on its heels are Elena Ionescu and Giani Kirita's "Bate Inima" at #2, and this song is proving to be a consistent hit. At #3, Alexandra Ungureanu's "Daca N-am Fi Impreuna" falls one spot. There is one debut in the Top 5 at #4, and it's Natali Dizdar's band BETI with their new single "Vili". It's BETI's second Top 5 hit, but even more impressively, it is Natali's 40th song to chart and her record-extending 28th consecutive Top 10 single. Yeesh! I do love me some Natali, who remains unbothered as my #1 artist of all time. There are some other debuts and re-peaks in the Top 10: Hyolyn's summery "Say My Name" climbs seventeen spots to #5, HyunA's "I'm Not Cool" slides into #8, and surprise, I finally caved to Dua Lipa, with "Don't Start Now" debuting at #9.
There are four other debuts in the Top 50. First, Sunny Hill notches their 35th hit with their latest OST "Break Up With You Every Night" landing at #17; alongside Brown Eyed Girls, Sunny Hill has been one of the most consistent and long-lasting K-Pop acts on my charts. I do love them so! Lower down, Inna finally has a hit from her "Heartbreaker" album, with "You and I" debuting at #37; Mira has another hit from "Divina" as the album track "Arctic" opens at #38; and Yubin's flawless new single "Perfume" debuts at #46.
There are several songs re-peaking this week, some more dramatically than others. Firstly, it seems that the Feli Din Poveste curse is alive and well, as Feli's latest single "Bade, Tu Esti Pui De Drac" climbs to #11, become her fifth single from that album to peak at #11 or #12. Will she be able to break the curse with her next single? It is the fourteenth song from that album to chart, so she's still doing well regardless. At #12, Samantha Jade inches closer to a second Top 10 hit with "New Boy"; it's interesting for me to see that this is her second highest charting hit (after "What You've Done To Me" which peaked at #6 in 2013) considering that "Firestarter" was a Year-End Top 20 hit in 2013 but it only ever reached... #18? Consistency rewarded that song, I'm telling you. Hopefully "New Boy" nets her another Top 10 hit! The next several re-peaks are less intense: Lim Jisoo's "Monologue" climbs one spot to #18, Nicole Cherry and Jenn Morel's "No Te Sale" also climbs one spot to #22; Petra Marklund's "Maneter" continues its exhausting climb and re-peaks at #30; both Dahye and Uhm Jung Hwa see a new peak for their respective versions of "Poison", which climbs to #31; and Chung Ha and R3hab's "Dream Of You" re-enters and re-peaks at #32 ahead of Chung Ha's "Querencia" finally dropping.
One song reaches the 10-week mark: Mira's "Cineva, which has been aided by its Asproiu remix for the last seven weeks. Finally, Anda Adam and Shift's "Tocurile" reaches the even loftier 20-week mark and does so by climbing a massive 33 spots and right back into the Top 10. This is one of, if not THE, biggest hit Anda has had on my charts—but interestingly not Shift's, who has had a glittering career as a rent-a-rapper on my charts. Congratulations to both!
On the album charts, Jubal's "County Ball" and Kylie Minogue's "Disco" continue their flip-flopping for the #1 spot with the former claiming it this week. Inna's "Heartbreaker" climbs to #3 behind them, and Cherry Bullet's "Cherry Rush" enters the Top 10 at #9.
