It's a new quarter and 2021 keeps rollin' along on the ajmkv charts. Shall we get into the musical goodness? (Yes, yes we shall~)
There are several notable debuts this week, and many of those will be heavy-hitters as we enter the second part of the year. However, at #1, Brave Girls remain unbeatable as "Rollin'" stays at the top for a fourth week. On top of that, this stunning success of a song finally reaches the 20-week mark; it had previously dropped out of my charts after 16 weeks in 2017. The achievements keep on rollin' in! (Should I stop? I'll stop.) Hot on Brave Girls' heels and hungry for that #1, there are two new major debuts. The first is Natali Dizdar's new solo single (her first since 2017!), "Kad Mislim Na To", which debuts at #2 and becomes her 29th Top 10 single... in a row! She is one of my favorite artists of all time, so I'm pumped for her new album. At #3, J Mena's brand new "Flor De Involución" smashes into the charts. She's had several big hits, and this is just as big from the get-go; I replayed the video four times when I first watched it, it is fascinating. Give it a listen! Lower down in the Top 5, André's "Nostalgii" retreats to #4, and Nicoleta Nuca's "Fata Din Oglinda" falls to #5.
More notable movement and achievements in the Top 10. At #7, Alexandra Ungureanu's stunning "Daca N-am Fi Impreuna" reaches the 10-week mark; it has spent each of those weeks in the Top 10. At #8, Dony, Otilia, and Erika Isac's sultry "Peaches And Cream" shoots right into the top tier of the charts, becoming Otilia's 14th consecutive Top 10 hit. It's so catchy, I can't stop singing the ~peaches peAcHeSssS~~~ hook. At #9, Amna and Liviu Teodorescu debut right into the Top 10 with "Sper S-o Iubesti". Liviu is my favorite male Romanian singer, and this duet with one of my ultimate Romanian divas, Amna, is gorgeous. It becomes Amna's 23rd Top 10 hit (also in a row, I told you this week had some heavy hitters), and Liviu's 7th. Another interesting tidbit: each of the five regions that make up my regional charts is represented in the Top 6, which is a feat that is rarely achieved!
There are several more debuts outside of the Top 10. Cosmic Girls (or WJSN, as you wish), make their comeback with "Unnatural" entering at #19; fresh-faced Romanian diva wannabe Alessiah debuts her first song on my chart, the summery "Darling", at #26; Malta's Eurovision entry, Destiny's "Je Me Casse", premieres at #46; and Adda's new single "Tramvaiul 23" debuts at #47 ahead of her announced new studio album. There are also some re-peaks throughout the chart. Firstly, Mira's "Nave Spatiale" enters the Top 20 at #18, and Enca's "Nashta" also enters this tier at #20. Three debuts from last week each climb to new peaks: Serena's "Shining Stars" climbs to #31, Sorn's "Run" to #32, and Xonia and Akcent's "You Don't Know My Love" to #42.
Three other songs have reached major milestones this week. Lora's "Daca Dragostea" re-enters and reaches the 20-week mark, and Amna and George Hora also reach this mark with "Increderea". Finally, Anda Adam and Shift's "Tocurile" reaches the half-year mark, which means it's spent 26 weeks on the chart, and all of them have been consecutive. (OK, it's actually at 27 weeks but I forgot about this last week, whoops.) Congrats to all these $ucce$$e$!
On the albums chart, Paty Cantú's "La Mexicana" remains on top for a third week, and Lana Del Rey's "Chemtrails Over The Country Club" also remains static at #2. Lower down, there is some movement. Natali Dizdar's upcoming fifth album debuts at #8, Amna's own fifth album climbs back into the Top 10, and Cosmic Girls's new mini "Unnatural" debuts at #22.
