Chart

Braintree Top 40

It's not living if it's not at #1 as The 1975 score thier first chart topper with "It's Not Living (If It's Not With You)".  Last week's #1 set a record for biggest drop from #1 while staying on the chart as "High Hopes" tumbles 22 spots to #23, thanks in large part to Daina's lack of spins this week.  In fact, all of her songs from last week as way down this week as she dumped them like a bag of dirt.  She did, however, pick up the new Dua Lipa & BLACKPINK single as "Kiss and Make Up" debuts at #5.  This is now Dua Lipa's 5th top five, with her previous four all going #1.  Will "Kiss and Make Up" have the same luck?  We'll see if Daina has it in her.

Carly Rae Jepsen gets her first top ten as "Party For One" debuts at #10 after just 12 hours of release.  Carly previously peaked at #24 with "Cut to the Feeling," although the song's peak popularity pre-dates the chart.  Little Mix continues to slowly inch its way towards the top ten as "Woman Like Me" featuring Nicki Minaj skips to #15.  Looks like the song is having more staying power than originally thought back when it premiered.  We also see the debut of the new Ellie Goulding song at #16, thanks to Josh and Emily.  Look out for "Close to Me" to make a jump next week if Celina gets her hands on it.

A big story this week is Catie's renewed obsession with the Backstreet Boys, after seeing their brilliant show in Vegas last week.  Not only did Catie actually listen to music and influence the chart this week, but she got 5 Backstreet Boys songs to chart, including "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" at #8 after originally peaking at #19 back in June.  This is the Boys' first top ten and ties them with *NSYNC, which is only appropriate.  Emm!e failed to listen to a single song while Breagh and Sara listened to songs much too obscure for Braintree.  Celina stuck to her soundtracks as she spun A Star Is Born and The Greatest Showman all week.  Emily stuck to the Braintree Top 40 and New Music Friday while Daina discovered Dua Lipa & BLACKPINK, as previously mentioned.

Next week, we see some big releases by Little Mix, Mariah Carey, Hailee Steinfeld, and King Princess as well as a major release from Clean Bandit featuring Luis Fonsi & Marina and the Diamonds (Daina, this one's for you).  Other releases include benny blanco and Calvin Harris, Anne-Marie, and Panic! at the Disco's version of "The Greatest Show" off the upcoming The Greatest Showman Reimagined soundtrack.  Can any of these songs debut at #1?  Can Catie gets the Boys to the top of the charts or will Daina beat her with her powers of repetition on "Kiss and Make Up"?  Find out next week on the Braintree Top 40!
