This week is relatively less busy than recent previous weeks, but still some highlights were present: 'Shed A Light' remains at the top spot, becoming just the 3rd Number One song to stay at the top spot for more than one week. It joins 'Cruise' and 'Endorphins' which all spent two weeks at the top spot of the chart. The week's top debut goes to Big Gigantic's 'The Little Things' which debuts at the #2 spot. 'Walking On A Dream' re-enters the chart at #3 marking it's 4th chart week, and it's best chart showing to date. 'How Do We Make It' debuts at #4, and Lady Gaga's 'Scheiße' debuts at #5. A little further down the Top 10, 'Rock That Body' moves up 3 spots to #9 in it's 2nd chart week. At #10, 'Cruise' re-enters the chart, joining 'Green Light' for the most weeks on the chart with 8 weeks. Also, notably, 'Company' re-enters the chart at #16, also joing 'Green Light' for most weeks on the chart with 8 weeks on the chart so far. 'Hello' (#18) and 'Frozen' (#24) both trail these three songs with 7 weeks on the chart so far.
Over on the leaderboard, there is also not that much of a shakeup this week. The Top 5 remains intact, but 'Cruise' moves up one position to #6. 'Hello', 'Frozen' and 'Company' all move up to occupy #7, #8 and #9 respectively. At #10, 'Shed A Light' flies 26 positions, mcuh thanks to it's impressive chart showing this week.
Hoping for a more exciting chart week next week, especially since a new chart rule will begin to take effect. With this new rule, any song that does not make it to the Top 20, and wasn't released in at least the last calendar year would be excluded from the charts. So, for example, a song released on December 21st 2015, but which reached an organic position of #25 would be excluded from the chart. However, a song released on January 1st 2016 and which reached an organic position of #28 would make it on the chart (since 2016 is one calendar year away from 2017). This rule is being put in place to ensure that the chart remains as fresh as possible, with only older songs that are truly making a splash included.
