Chart

Top 20

Selena Gomez and Marshmello reign for a 9th week. Kesha and Mariah Carey hit the top 3.

For the 9th non-consecutive week, "Wolves" by Selena Gomez and Marshmello holds at number 1, becoming Gomez's longest reigning number 1 of 2017. Gomez has undoubtedly been the biggest artist of 2017 on the Top 20 with 5 number 1 hits and endless chart entries, Gomez has a full album planned for 2018, chart domination should once again be expected. "Wolves" has spent 10 weeks on the chart and is now certifed as a 'big hit'. Since it is party season, some of the year's biggest hits have returned to the chart - Gomez' "It Ain't Me" accompanied by Kygo returns to #12 (33 weeks) and "Bad Liar" re-enters at #15 (31 weeks).

This week's highest new entry comes from Kesha whose rendition of "This is Me" from "The Greatest Showman" soundtrack debuts at #2. Kesha is another artist who has had a great year and this current peak of #2 is another achievement to add to the list- she has now had 4 songs peak in the top 3 during 2017. Songs from "The Greatest Showman" could pop into the chart next week due to the impact of the film's release. A remix of "Learn To Let Go" by Feenixpawl enters the chart at #20.

Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande continued to chart this week with Carey taking the lead. Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" climbed 5 places, tied for this week's highest jump, to #3- a new peak for the song. This festive season, the song has spent 4 non-continuous weeks charting and although it is unlikely the song will chart next week, only 11 months until Christmas songs start getting airplay again! As for Grande's "Santa Tell Me", the song took an unexpected dip this week, dropping 2 places to #8. This is "Santa Tell Me"'s 3rd non-consecutive week on the chart this festive season.

Lizzo's "Good as Hell" may just be this year's chart underdog- it literally came out of no where from an artist who has never charted before, peaking at #3 and has now spent 7 weeks on the chart. The song falls one place to #4 this week, things are definitely "Good as Hell" for Lizzo - will this be a one hit wonder or will Lizzo return to the chart in the future? Hailee Steinfeld, Alesso, Florida George Line and watt climb 2 places to #7 with "Let Me Go". This is the song's 6th week on the chart. "Let Me Go" has now had two chart stints - the first in September and the other in December. P!nk drops 2 places to #9 with "Beautiful Trauma". This is the song's 5th week on the chart, certifying it as a hit.

Taylor Swift's chart domination has lessened quite a bit this week with *just* 3 chart appearances. "End Game" remains to sit at the highest position, sliding one place to #5. The music video could drop at anytime and will surely boost the song back up closer to the chart summit. "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things" also moves down a place to #6. Likewise, "I Did Something Bad" slips a spot to #11. All of these songs have now spent 7 weeks on the chart. "reputation" is definitely the album that has had the biggest chart impact this year.

As briefly mentioned, 2017 is coming to a close and party season is in full swing so it is to be expected that some of the dance anthems of the year will return to the chart. Despite peaking at only #7, Rita Ora returns with "Anywhere" at #10. This is the 5th charting week for the song, certifying it as a hit. "New Rules" by Dua Lipa moves up 5 places to #13, the joint-highest climber (12 weeks). "Depacito (remix)" also returns to #16 (9 weeks). Charlie Puth's "How Long" reappears at #19 (7 weeks).

Things aren't looking as great for Camila Cabello as they have done for the past few weeks (or months). "Never Be The Same" takes a tumble, falling 12 places to #14. This is the song's 4th week on the chart- another big fall like this could forfeit the song reaching hit status next week. "Havana" also drops 3 places to #17 (17 weeks).

Finally, one of the oddest chart entries of the year. Meryl Streep makes her chart debut with "Mamma Mia" from the film soundtrack at #18. This is likely down to the trailer of the film's sequel debuting in the past week so nostalgia may have boosted the song's chart performance.
