Chart

20th April, 2018 - 26th April, 2018

Top albums of the week:

1) Avicii - 'Stories' (Debut)
2) Avicii - 'True' (Debut)
3) The Weeknd - 'My Dear Melancholy,' (-2)
4) Various Artists - 'Black Panther: The Album' (-2)
5) Avicii - 'AVĪCI (01)' (Debut)

"He said, one day you'll leave this world behind, so live a life you will remember". The opening lyrics of the chorus of Avicii's 'The Nights', and lyrics that now have a much deeper meaning following the shock announcement of the Swedish DJ's untimely death last Friday. They are also the lyrics of the song that makes a debut straight in at #1 on my chart this week. 'The Nights' is not alone, either. Far from it. It is joined by 2 other of Avicii's songs in the Top 10 as 'Without You' re-enters at #7, by far beating its previous peak of #36, and 'Waiting For Love' debuts at #10. There are also an additional 5 songs in the rest of the chart, at #16, #22, #28, #34 & #38, making for a total of 8 Avicii songs in the chart this week. With 7 brand new debuts to the chart this week, Avicii matches the record set by Camila Cabello upon the release of her debut album for the most simultaneous debuts in 1 week. Rest in peace to one of the best EDM producers of all time.

Moving away from Avicii, this week is an extremely packed one near the top of the charts, with 9 out of the Top 10 being brand new entries to the region this week, and 6 of them being completely new debuts. This was also the closest race for #1 that I have ever seen on my charts, as every song in the Top 6 was leading the way at some point in the week! Having 9 out of the Top 10 be new entries to the region beats the record set by Camila Cabello as she debuted 7 songs in the Top 10 simultaneously. At #2 Years & Years have the joint highest climber of the week as 'Sanctify' is up a huge 20 places, and at #3 Anne-Marie sees her 3rd Top 3 entry and 4th entry overall as '2002' debuts, though she is expected to have many new entries next week following the release of her debut album today. #4 is another brand new entry from Ariana Grande as she debuts with 'No Tears Left To Cry'. This is her highest ever entry as a lead artist, though she has previously spent 2 weeks at #1 as a featured artist on Cashmere Cat's 'Quit'. #5 is the only song in the Top 10 this week that was also there last week; Sam Smith & Logic's 'Pray' is a non-mover. Bebe Rexha has the other highest climber of the week as '2 Souls on Fire' climbs a massive 20 places to #6 following its #26 debut last week, and Khalid, 6LACK & Ty Dolla $ign all see their highest ever entry as 'OTW' debuts at #8. Rounding off the Top 10, 16-year-old rapper EO makes his chart debut with 'German' at #9.

3 more new debuts that aren't in the Top 10 and aren't from Avicii make their entrances on the chart this week, the highest of which is 'Tip Pon It' by Sean Paul & Major Lazer at #19. Major Lazer have previously been to #1 with 'Know No Better', but this is Sean Paul's highest ever entry on my chart! They are closely followed by UK grime artist Ramz with his 3rd single 'Family Tree' at #21. This is his 2nd entry on my chart after 'Barking' reached #1 last year. And at #25 Liam Payne makes his 5th entry and J Balvin his 2nd with 'Familiar'. This is far from the #2 peak of Liam's 'Get Low' or #7 peak of his 'Strip That Down', or the #8 peak of Balvin's 'Hey Ma', but it is a good debut nonetheless.

Thanks for reading everyone! :D

Great debuts for Avicii, Anne-Marie and Ariana Grande!
And a great big gain for Years & Years!
Great chart overall!

Hey Sergej! Anne-Marie should see a pretty good week next week thanks to the release of 'Speak Your Mind', and 'Sanctify' & 'No Tears Left To Cry' should stick around. Sadly, Avicii's singles will likely fall heavily. Thanks for the comment! :D

Hey Gameskiller! I hope you've had a good week. :)
I knew you said your chart was going to be busy, but I wasn't expecting this much action!
Firstly, I love seeing Avicii get eight songs inside your Top 40, including 'The Nights' entering straight in at #1! I loved the lyrics to that song even before his death, but yeah, they have a really sad meaning now! I think he makes six appearances in my chart this week.
Elsewhere in your chart, I really like the Top 5 debuts for '2002' & 'No Tears Left To Cry', as the same happened to me in my new chart too!
I look forward to your next chart & I hope you can check out mine.
See you soon!

Hey Piran! Yeah, my chart was way busier than I had expected this week, partly because of Avicii's passing and partly because there were a ton of great songs the I heard for the first time this week, and a bunch of songs already on the chart that climbed massively. And next week's set to be just as busy, if not busier, with the release of 'Speak Your Mind', 'beerbongs & bentleys' and 'Poo Bear Presents: Bearthday Music'! Sadly, the busyness of next week will likely cause a big drop for Avicii's songs, though.
'2002' is currently pretty far ahead as the leader for #1 next week, and 'No Tears Left To Cry' should stay in the Top 5 as well. I'll go check out your chart now! :D

Hey Gameskiller! Great to see you again and I've missed your charts! Great to see 'The Nights' at #1, it's definitely one of my favorite Avicii songs. It's unbelievable what has happened to him. I was so shocked, but his music will live on forever! Nice to see two debuts inside the Top 5! Who do you got as your next #1? I am very surprised to see 'Wasted Times' go #1-#18! It's such a huge drop! What happened? From the rest of your chart, I love 'Like I Do', 'Addicted To You', 'Leave A Light On', 'rockstar', 'You Make Me', 'Hurt You', (which also dropped so much?!), 'Done For Me', 'God's Plan', 'Lonely Together', 'Try Me' (bad week for The Weeknd), 'River', 'All The Stars', 'FRIENDS', 'Wake Me Up', 'Hey Brother', 'Pray For Me', 'One Kiss', 'Waiting For Love', 'Without You' and more! Great chart, I am very excited for your next one!

Hey RandomGuy! I was really shocked about the news of Avicii's passing as well. He was definitely one of my favourite DJs, but at least we've got his amazing music to remember him by.
This week was a massively busy one with 9 out of the Top 10 being new entries to the region, and next week's set to be just as busy, if not busier, with the release of Anne-Marie's 'Speak Your Mind', Post Malone's 'beerbongs & bentleys' and Poo Bear's 'Poo Bear Presents: Bearthday Music'! Thanks to the release of Anne-Marie's album, the single she released last week, '2002', is set to go to #1 on my next chart!
I think 'Wasted Times' just got the biggest drop from #1 ever recorded on my charts, but I'd have to check. It was a pretty bad week for The Weeknd overall, but it wasn't just him. Thanks to the massive amount of new entries, re-entries and big climbers, a total of 20 songs dropped 10 places or more this week (including ones that dropped out).
Speak to you soon! :D

Wow! So this was a great and exciting week for your chart! I can't wait for the new debuts and further movement. Unlike yours, my chart is much more 'stagnant', with far less movements & I think I have multiple songs with 40+ weeks on it!

I'm very VERY pleased to see "2 Souls on Fire" in the top 10 this week!

I also like "Pray For Me", "Wasted Times", "Wake Me Up", "All the Stars", "FRIENDS", "Lost In Japan", "Done For Me", "Hurt You", "Bloodstream", and "Like I Do".
