Chart

Billboard Hot 30

This week, the chart is invaded by Christmas music as the tracking week encompassed the height of the holiday season. Starting at number one, Halsey's "Without Me" finally hits the top spot after waiting at number two for two weeks. "Without Me" posts large gain in radio airplay as it bounds up the pop radio airplay charts. "Without Me" posts a rather quick ascent to the top after its debut in the high twenties just ten weeks ago. Halsey scores her first leader in chart history and continues both woman and pop's dominance on the charts recently. As "Without Me" oversteps Ariana Grande's "thank u, next", Halsey and Grande are the first back to back woman leaders since Bebe Rexha with "Meant To Be" and then Ariana Grande again with "no tears left to cry". Since those two songs have reigned over the chart, only men have led the chart with Childish Gambino, Post Malone, Ty Dolla $ign, J Balvin, Bad Bunny, Drake, XXXTentacion, Maroon 5, DJ Khaled, Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, Travis Scott, Juice Wrld, Lil Peep, Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Baby, Gunna, Kodak Black, Offset, Marshmello, and then Bastille all ascending to number one. The only exception to this male dominanted chart year would be Cardi B, who reigned with her own "I Like It" and then with Maroon 5 on "Girl's Like You". For pop, two consecutive pop songs have hit number one for the first time since none other than "Meant To Be" and "no tears left to cry". Ariana Grande's "thank u, next" falls down to number two due to its streaming sliding downwards following its official music video release weeks ago; however, the song still hikes up in radio airplay. Up this week to a new high is Panic! at the Disco's "High Hopes", which jumps two spots to number three. "High Hopes" gets mostly all of its points from radio airplay as the song maintains its lead over the airwaves. Like previous radio-powered songs like "Love Lies" by Khalid and Normani and "Youngblood" by 5 Seconds of Summer, "High Hopes" looks to be peaking this week as its streaming numbers are drastically below that of "thank u, next" and "Without Me"
