Io's Weekly Top 50 - 12/30/2018

Mark Ronson & Miley Cyrus close out 2018 at number one as some of the years biggest hits make a reappearance
"Nothing Breaks Like a Heart" is able to stay on top for a second week in a row, edging out Ava Max and her hit "Sweet but Psycho" by a small margin. "Heart" reached the top spot for the first time last week and is 2018's last number one. "Sweet but Psycho", which has stayed in the top two for a month now, once again barely loses out to the Ronson & Cyrus collaboration, but looks to be far from done as the two top tracks both gain in points this week, and barring any major debuts should hold the top two hostage for quite another while. "We Appreciate Power" by Grimes sits steady below the couple, spending a second week at the number three spot. Carly Rae Jepsens #1 debut "Party For One" continues its run inside the top five, now up to 9 weeks. Below Jepsen, Halsey finishes at #5 with "Without Me", overtaking "thank u, next" by the best charting artist of the year Ariana Grande, who slips to #6 with another unfavorable week.

Billie Eilish has all the momentum on her side right now, which is demonstrated by her six entries on the charts; three of them being inside the top 10. "come out and play" remains at #7, "when the party's over" is able to overtake buzz track "imagine" by Ariana Grande to rise to #8, and Eilish's collaboration with Khalid "lovely" enters at #10. The song is Eilish's third and Khalid's second top 10 entry this year. "bellyache" once again finishes at #11, ahead of the steady "Baby" by Clean Bandit feat. Marina & Luis Fonsi. "COPYCAT" launches at #15 and "idontwannabeyouanymore" ten places below at #25. As the year draws to an end, Billie Eilish is someone to definitely watch out for in 2019.

"Wow." by Post Malone debuts at #18. Malone had a rather successful year, with his highest peaking track being "Better Now" at #2 back in August. MERO continues making moves and climbs #20 to #19 with "Baller los". Alle Farben's "Fading" slips to #20 due to the three debuts ahead, but finishes with a gain of points. Similarly "Playboy Style" by Clean Bandit feat. Charli XCX & Bhad Bhabie barely misses a top 20 reappearance, rising to #21. "Be Alright" by Dean Lewis, which peaked at #2 in Fall, crashes out of the top 20, dropping eight to land at #22. Two Ariana Grande number ones in "no tears left to cry" and "breathin" follow at #23 and #24 respectively.

With the year drawing to a close, multiple top hits of 2018 make a reappearance in the bottom end of the charts - "Havana" by Camila Cabello is the first of them at #44. The song spent three of its eleven weeks at #1 in 2018. Next is "Solo" by Clean Bandit & Demi Lovato, which was this years song of the summer, spending a grand five consecutive weeks at #1 in June and July. "Sick Boy" by The Chainsmokers re-enters at #47. The track spent two weeks at #1 back in the beginning of the year. In a similar vein, fellow two week number 1 "IDGAF" by Dua Lipa follows behind The Chainsmokers, having peaked at #1 back in March. "These Days" by Rudimental feat. Jess Glynne, Macklemore & Dan Caplen, which spent three weeks at #1 back in February, follow suit and re-enters at #49. Finally another Dua Lipa track, this time as a co-lead together with Calvin Harris, re-emerges at #50. "One Kiss" only spent two weeks at #1 over the summer due to being blocked by "no tears left to cry" and later "Solo", but its impact was definitely felt all year.
