Chart

James' Top 40 - April 1, 2015

New #1!

6 new entries!

Notes:

  • Big Data scores one of the biggest weeks on my chart ever. Big Data has 8 of the 10 songs from 2.0 charting this week. The one leading the pack of tracks is also the one that leads the chart. "The Business of Emotion" (feat. White Sea) jumps 6-1 this week for its 3rd nonconsecutive week atop the chart. It picks up a +10 play increase. The last time it led the chart was in November of last year. This might be able to hold down the top spot for a little while actually. The song has been revived in full, so it should stay at least in the Top 5 for the foreseeable future.
  • "Satellite" by: Nickelback moves 4-3 this week for a new peak. This should be the next single in the US, so this might be able to hit #1 soon. It doesn't look like it'll hit it soon, but it's definitely in the cards. Despite this rising, however, Nickelback falls on every other song... bad. "She Keeps Me Up" falls 3-6, likely being done now and should start falling more, "Edge of a Revolution" falls 20-25, likely killing the enough momentum it had to stay on the chart, now it'll be hard to not fall, and "Million Miles an Hour" takes a huge hit, flopping 18-27, this one is also completely done.
  • Tove Lo rises into the Top 10 this week with "Talking Body" climbing 13-9 on top of a +6 play increase. Like previously thought, this should see a run similar to "Love Me Harder" which was had an up and down chart run (this won't rocket off though).
  • Big Data scores 7 other songs on the chart this week, one of the best weeks from an artist in awhile. Nickelback and Until the Ribbon Breaks have done it recently, but before them, it hadn't happened in awhile. "Clean" (feat. Jamie Lidell) leads the others, climbing 21-13 for a new peak with a +11 play increase. "The Glow" takes the biggest climb ever on the chart (well if you don't count #1 debuts), going an astounding 40-20 this week with a +19 play increase. These two should stay on the chart for awhile and become big album tracks. The rest of the tracks land under the Top 30: "Dangerous" (feat. Joywave) reenters the chart at #32. It previously peaked at #10 last year. "Sick For Me" (feat. Bear Hands) debuts at #33, "Big Dater" debuts at #35, "Perfect Holiday" (feat. Twin Shadow) debuts at #39, and "Automatic" (feat. Jenn Wasner) debuts at #40. The last will likely be a one-weeker, but the rest have a shot at sticking for a bit.
  • "I Bet My Life" by: Imagine Dragons moves up 17-15 this week for a new peak. It has been having steady movement its chart run, so next week it'll look to climb again. "Gold" falls off the chart this week from #38.
  • Night Riots really benefit from being at the right place at the right time this week. "Contagious" climbs 22-18 despite not picking up a single play. Quite a few were falling above it, and this was able to move up. It's been having a much different run than first expected, so next week should be the real challenge on how long this'll be able to stick.
  • "Untraveled Road" by: Thousand Foot Krutch climbs 26-23 this week for a new peak. This has also been gradually moving up each week, and it'll look at the Top 20 next week.
  • "Heavy Is the Head" by: Zac Brown Band (feat. Chris Cornell) takes a small climb, going 28-26 this week for a new peak. This one is starting to slow down a bit, so next week could be a challenge. It does have the potential however to climb without any increases since there are some songs falling above it.
  • Years & Years hops 36-29 this week with "Desire" for a new peak. After staying steady last week, it was able to rebound in a big way. This had the potential to fall off the chart with all the new entries, but it was able to answer back during the week. This one will look to climb further next week. "King" is another to look out for, as it resides on On the Rise again this week.
  • Until the Ribbon Breaks reenters the chart with "Perspective" (feat. Homeboy Sandman) coming in at #38. The song made some huge gains in the past week, resulting in the reentry. Since Until the Ribbon Breaks hasn't released a single to radio yet, I'll be kinda hopping from one song to the other on my own lol. "A Taste of Silver" is starting to regain momentum, but that shouldn't hurt this at all. This could be another hit for Until the Ribbon Breaks.
  • With all the debuts coming in this week, many had to fall. "Linger", "Gold" and "Woman Woman" were easy drops, and likely weren't going to make it this week nonetheless. The others, however, are going to be falling off and not likely coming back despite probably being able to put up a few weeks had they stayed on. "Goodbye" by: Fancy falls from #35. That one had huge potential to make it big, but cooled off and started to drop really hard since it couldn't put up a positive update in the midst of songs trying to climb. This could reenter, but it's not looking too likely. "Speaking In Tongues" falls from #33 after peaking at a low #30. Since it wasn't going to be the second radio single in the US, that really hurt its chances. If it does get released as a single here, it should reenter without much problem. "Fairly Local" by: twenty one pilots turns into a one-weeker after falling from #34. It only put up one play this week, so it was an easy drop, but there was a shot it would have stayed. This could also reenter if it gets single treatment.
