New #1!
Notes:
- "My Type" scores the top spot this week for Saint Motel's first career #1 on their first try. The song has been a steady gainer its whole run, but started to lose steam a few weeks ago. It picked back up to its previous speed and is where it's at now. It's not totally ahead though, as next week "A Taste of Silver" (2-2) or "First" (1-3) can regain the top spot, and there is another challenger.
- "Halo" keeps rocking forward as it rockets 9-5 this week for a new peak. The track has been red hot and has enough momentum to contend for #1 next week if "My Type" can't hold on. The song has been a surprise mover, as it wasn't looking like it could hit #1, but here we are now.
- Parachute is unable to take advantage as they take a tiny climb of 10-9 with "Crave" for a new peak. This seems to be happening to a lot of tracks lately, as they'll be red hot or have steady movement, then have a down week. Some have been able to move on successfully ("My Type", "All Over"), and some not ("Goodbye" by: Fancy, potentially "Take Your Time" and "Cool").
- "Satellite" rebounds 18-16 this week. It had been tumbling, even with the announcement of it being the next US single, but it couldn't catch itself till this week. There was no plan to just completely drop this, and it was able to prove itself. It might not pass its #3 peak, but it could rebound quite nicely if things play out right.
- While Cold War Kids fall from the top spot, they move into the Top 20 with another, as "Thunder Hearts" climbs 21-19 for a new peak. Their Top 5 streak has a shot at continuing assuming this keeps up the steady gains this has been getting. A downfall doesn't look likely in the near future, so this could slowly ride to the Top 10 next.
- Jason Derulo takes the top debut this week with "Cheyenne" at #27. This is his first charter since "Wiggle" ("Trumpets" and "Want to Want Me" failed to chart), and this should have a lot of success. I have been absolutely obsessed with this in the past week or so. Even if this doesn't get announced as the next single, this should still stick as a good album track. I see a similar run to Maroon 5's "It Was Always You", which has peaked at #4 (could re-enter if they pull their heads out of their asses and release it as a single). This might be one of my favorites by him of all-time.
- "Little Monster" climbs 36-28 this week for a new peak. After a small debut and a short pickup the second week, it was able to take off in its third week and it probably won't look back. I love this now, and this could make up the ground that I foolishly left out for "Out of the Black".
- The final debut goes to Saint Asonia, as they barely edge out O.A.R. for the #40 spot. "Better Place" didn't have the most solid second week (+3 play increase), but benefitted from being higher than anything on On the Rise and "Two Hands Up", as well as "Untraveled Road" and "Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)" being sure drops. This will look to do something, but it could be a dud similar to "Can't Deny My Love" and "The Wolf" that weren't able to make any noise, but stuck around for a few weeks. This is surprisingly Adam Gontier's first song to chart on my chart, as he only had some on On the Rise when he used to be with Three Days Grace (who have charted once with Matt Walst).
