Chart

James' Top 70 - November 3, 2016

5 debuts!

Notes:

  • "Love Like We Used To" holds the top spot for its third week. This is still running strong, but this week will be its biggest challenge yet. SafetySuit is releasing their album tomorrow, so next week's chart is likely going to be total chaos. Though with that said, I still see this holding #1 for weeks to come.
  • One day away from releasing their first album in almost five years, SafetySuit re-enters the Top 10 with "Pause", as it goes 12-9 for a new peak. Next week should see a big jump for the song, maybe going into the Top 5, on all the anticipation that is being led up to this. "Looking Up" (18-18) and even "Never Stop" (44-40) should see major boosts next week. There will be more on next week's chart later.
  • "Oxygen" is looking to pick up the broken pieces that "That's All I Need" (31-38) is leaving behind, as this week, it moves up 21-15 for a new peak. This is looking like it'll hit the Top 10 in a few weeks, and this could definitely enter the Top 3 in the future.
  • A huge debut this week comes as a big surprise, as Ricky Reed of Wallpaper. returns to the charts with his debut solo single "Express Myself" coming in hot at #31. I wasn't expecting a single from him this year, let alone not under the Wallpaper. name, so this can shake things up a bit. This should definitely be a nice hit for him, likely going Top 10 in no time. Wallpaper. has had a large amount of success here, with their last era (Ricky Reed Is Real) having plenty of hits: "Good 4 It" (#3), "Life of the Party" (#2), "Hesher" (#1), as well as "f**king Best Song Everrr" peaking at #3. It'll be interesting to see what Ricky Reed can do as a solo artist.
  • James Arthur makes his return to the charts with "Say You Won't Let Go" debuting at #60 this week. This has been on my radar for awhile now, and it finally was able to edge in a debut. This has the opportunity to be a big hit for him. This is his second career chart entry following "You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You" in 2013, where it peaked at #9.
  • Also making their return to the chart is Starset, as they debut their new single "Monster" at #61 this week. This is actually the first song in chart history to debut on the chart without being on my iTunes, as it will be available to purchase tomorrow. This still got a lot of attention on YouTube, so it is able to make its debut here. This is their third chart entry behind "Carnivore" (#10) and "Halo" (#3), and I could see this motoring its way towards the Top 10.
  • "All Time Low" makes its debut this week at #64. After not really feeling this song/him at first, this has grown on me immensely, and I really like this one now. It is very catchy. I could see this being a moderate hit for Jon, maybe somewhere in the 30s.
  • The final debut this week goes to the unknown artist Wolfie's Just Fine, as he debuts "It's a Job" at #65 this week. While the name is unfamiliar, you likely know who he is as his real name, Jon Lajoie. He made the comedic masterpieces "Show Me Your Genitals", "I Kill People", and plenty more. This is a completely opposite change of sound for him, as he decided to do a more serious folkier type music. This one is incredibly good and I could see this being a big hit for him here.
  • With the release of SafetySuit's self-titled album coming tomorrow, the chart will be in total chaos next week. There's is a big shot all 14 tracks (though one has past its prime ("On Your Side") and another is a prelude) will all chart next week. I am high on anticipation for this and am looking for them to deliver. This comes at the perfect timing though, as an astounding 7 songs are likely to go recurrent next week, along with 4 fairly easy drops, so they will be able to all debut with ease. Next week might be all SafetySuit debuts, but there's a shot Marshmello could find his way in. "Better" is already appearing on On the Rise as they released it yesterday, and that will look to get a big debut. Get ready y'all.
