Chart

the cm70 - December 30, 2015

Last chart of 2015! Happy (almost) New Year everyone!

5 new entries!

Notes:

  • Andrew Watt holds the throne for a third consecutive week with "Seeing Red". It was in yet another battle with "Looking Up" (#2) for the top spot, and it just barely came out on top. Right now, both of them are right on top of each other and next week should see yet another battle between them.
  • The Top 4 actually gets broken up for the first time in 7 weeks with "The Feeling" (3-5) dropping out of the Top 4 this week. There has been two times where the Top 4 stays the same for awhile, something that doesn't normally happen.
  • Moving in and breaking the Top 4 is "Hello" by: Hedley, as it blasts 6-3 this week for a new peak. This peaked at #5 a few weeks ago and has been hanging around in the 5-7 range for quite awhile now. This had a really nice week and has put itself back into contention for a possible #1. It's below the Top 2 by quite a bit, but that margin can be decreased a good amount heading into next week. If this does peak above its #3 right now, it'd have to do so in 2 weeks at the very least, but it will definitely be a challenge.
  • "A Taste of Silver" enjoys its 52nd week on the chart this week, spending yet another week at #4. For all you mathematically challenged, that equates to a full year! Considering this is still at #4 and still gaining positive updates a year into its run, that is amazing. This no lie has a shot at two years if it can keep it going for another month or two, which is definitely reasonable. I see this going recurrent by dropping below #50 instead of the 5+ positions way, so that should be a good sign as well. We should have another one year update in two weeks for "Talking Body" (36-37), and not too shortly after for "First" (#12) and more than likely "My Type" (22-21). Now that I'm thinking about it, even "End of the World" (#14) has an outside shot at that, but at 25 weeks right now, it might come just shy.
  • Justin Bieber scores his second Top 10 of the year, as now "Sorry" moves up 11-10 for a new peak. This has been seeing nice steady updates its entire run and should continue to do so. The Top 10 is really wild right now, so there's not much telling into where this will peak at the moment.
  • The Top 10 should be moving around a lot over the next few weeks with new entries and dropouts heading into the new year. Things are starting to get a bit crazy right now and every track is looking for good peaks. Some might die early and some might be able to ride it out.
  • "Revolution Indifference" drops out of the Top 10 this week, going 9-11 in the process, but it's not over just yet. Despite peaking at #5, it still has a shot at beating it and could be a bounce-back candidate in 2016. This should definitely re-enter the Top 10 in the near future, it's just going to have to be able to rise quick enough before some hot songs come and swoop in.
  • "In Chains" enters the Top 20 this week, going 26-20 for a new peak. This has had a very nice run so far and should continue to do so. It should set another peak next week and can do so for more weeks to come.
  • Talay Riley pushes a song into the Top 30, as "101" rises 35-29 for a new peak. This has been heating up the past few weeks and is definitely looking to be a big charter for Talay. I'm not too sure this has the gas to go Top 10, but it definitely is looking like it wants to. If this has a few more big jumps, this could up its projections even more. Right now, it should be able to go Top 20.
  • "Falling Apart" takes a huge rise this week and goes 42-30 in its second week on the chart. This has been white hot over the past few weeks, and this actually has a shot at being Papa Roach's first #1 on the chart. It should be able to take another enormous jump next week, but after that, it should be able to rise normally.
  • "Dirty Mind" and "Second Hand Heart" enter the Top 50 this week, going 54-49 and 52-50 respectively.
  • The first new entry on the chart goes to tobyMac, as he sees "Til The Day I Die" re-enter at #53 this week. It spent two weeks on the chart a few months ago when both "Beyond Me" and "Feel It" were charting, and peaked at #37, but now it will look to have a normal single-like run. This is actually not the next single off of the album, but this and "Backseat Driver", the actual single, should be able to have simultaneous runs. This definitely has the higher potential of the two, and this could end up being a Top 20 for Toby.
  • "Fine By Me" by: Chris Brown blasts 67-58 in its second week for a new peak. This had a bit of uncertainty with it, as I was unsure whether I would fully embrace this while "Zero" (23-24) was still charting, but I can't stop listening to it. It definitely has taken a lot of steam away from "Zero", who now looks like it won't get much higher than its #22 peak. This should be able to peak nicely, and could get to where "Zero" is, which is obviously a bigger feat now than it was for "Zero" considering it didn't have as many positions to climb.
  • "Get Ugly" and "Burning House" also enter the Top 60 this week, going 64-59 and 63-60 respectively.
  • After first appearing on On the Rise in September, "1998" finally makes its debut this week at #62. This has been popping up a lot on my playlist over the past month and it rekindled with me. Considering how long I've been into it, I'm not sure it will get that high of a peak, but it should be able to enjoy the ride while it lasts. There is a good shot this can go Top 60 next week.
  • Taylor Swift debuts two songs this week, one old and one new. The top debut belongs to "Style", the third single from 1989, which debuts at #66. For some reason, I never downloaded that song when it was a single even though I really liked it, but when I went to go get "Out of the Woods", I decided to get this as well, and now I'm starting to get really into it. "Style" has a shot at actually being a late bloomer and getting a good peak. "Out of the Woods" debuts a few spots below at #68. Since this is the current single, it should perform better and longer than "Style". I actually think that "Out of the Woods" might be one of her career bests in my opinion. I don't really have projections for either track, but they should form in a few weeks. I've never really have had a hard-on for Taylor Swift like the rest of the world, I actually don't care for most of her songs, but she has had a few that I have liked. These are her second and third chart entries, as she charted "I Knew You Were Trouble." a few years ago, which peaked at #9.
  • The last debut goes to Five Finger Death Punch, as "Wash It All Away" barely edged in at #70. It was actually a late entry, as I kind of forgot about it until I almost clicked the 'create post' button, as this pushed "Radar" off the chart. This is FFDP's second charter, as they charted with "Remember Everything" a few years ago, which peaked at #6. If I had gotten into "Jekyll and Hyde" earlier, that probably would have charted as well, but I decided to give this full attention.
  • I also don't have a hard-on for "Hello" by: Adele like everyone else, as that now gains a new record that it definitely doesn't want. It drops a horrendous 21 (lol) positions this week (48-69), and effectively ending any chance of mercy for it. The song hascompletely burned on me now, as now I can't even listen to it. I actually just skipped a few minutes ago. I'm not sure if "When We Were Young" will chart, but I plan on downloading that one and a few others and hope for the best.
