Chart

the cm70 - January 6, 2016

New #1!

Notes:

  • "Looking Up" reclaims the top spot from "Seeing Red" (1-2) as it pulls in its 3rd week atop the chart. Right now, #1 is anyone's to take, but this could stay atop for a little while longer.
  • While Andrew Watt falls from the top spot with "Seeing Red", "Ghost In My Head" pulls into the Top 5, going 6-5 for a new peak. With two songs from Andrew in the Top 5, he's looking at another possible #1 with this. This should take a bit to peak and spend awhile in the Top 10 when it's done, which won't be for awhile.
  • "Falling Apart" motors into the Top 20 this week, flying 30-19 for a new peak in just its third week. This actually has a good shot at jumping all the way into the Top 10 this week. This is still really hot right now and could be looking at #1 pretty soon. It's pretty inevitable at this point.
  • "Goldfish" moves into the Top 40 this week, taking a nice rise by going 44-38 this week. This is coming in nicely out of the expansion and should continue to do so. This does have a shot at going Top 10 at some point, but this will likely take a long time to do it if it does. This will also probably be the last single I chart for the A Lesson Unlearnt era, which in the end will be a remarkable era for Until the Ribbon Breaks. They plan on releasing another album this year (their debut was pretty much a collection of their two previous EPs), so once this is about to peak, they should be close to releasing a new single.
  • tobyMac comes into the Top 50 with "Til the Day I Die" going 53-43. This should easily be past its #37 peak in two weeks, but it does have a good shot at beating it next week as this is still pretty hot at the moment.
  • Carrie Underwood scores herself a very good debut with "Heartbeat" at #44 this week. I had this on repeat a lot, as it pulled in 15 plays in a row over the week. It would have debuted higher, but it had a shorter week as I downloaded it on over the weekend. No lie, this could go #1, but Top 10 is looking pretty easy, and this could be a big climber like "Falling Apart". This is just Carrie's second charter, as "Blown Away" hit #8 awhile back. She saw "Smoke Break" hit On the Rise for a week, but it has done far better than that.
  • "Way Down We Go" finally enters the Top 60 this week after 5 weeks. It has been going very slowly so far and might do so for awhile more. It actually had a nice week, but was caught behind some other songs.
  • Bryson Tiller debuts another song this week at #66 with "Exchange". Bryson is starting to heat up as "Don't" climbed 26-21 this week and "Been That Way" reappears on On the Rise this week. That should re-enter soon, and Bryson could be looking at 3 simultaneous hits on the chart.
