The final #1 of this year comes from DJ trio Kris Kross Amsterdam and British popstar Conor Maynard, alongside rapper Ty Dolla $ign. Are You Sure? marks the first appearance of Kris Kross Amsterdam, joining former collaboration partners Cheat Codes in hitting the top spot with the follow-up to their track Sex, which didn't make my top 40 at all. Conor Maynard however is not a stranger to my chart, with seven previous top 10 hits to his name and two #1s from his last two singles Talking About and Royalty. Ty Dolla $ign has only charted once before, with Fifth Harmony on their #1 hit Work from Home. He is only the fourth rapper to achieve 2 or more #1s singles, following Iggy Azalea (7), Nicki Minaj (2) and G-Eazy (2).
JP Cooper also achieves his first top 10 hit this week, as September Song climbs up 19 places to #9. It's his second top 40 hit, following Jonas Blue collaboration Perfect Strangers, which only got as high as #37. September Song's taken a while to impact my chart, initially getting released in September (appropriately). I listened to it upon release and whilst I liked it, I didn't download it and it only entered my chart at the beginning of November, climbing into the top 10 in the final chart of 2016!
Also this week, George Shelley charts with his sixth and final weekly release from his Originals project. Only two of the songs made the top 10 but two further tracks made the top 20 and none lower than #22. This week, Prove Me Wrong is a new entry at #15, the third highest position to date. Last week's track Poltergeist also becomes the first song of his to climb in week 2 to a new peak! Soldier is the most successful track as things stand, peaking at #7 and it's currently on its 5th week in the chart.
Also this week, RHODES and Felix Jaehn jump up to a new peak of #3 with Your Soul (Holding On). It's still yet to match RHODES' highest peak of #1 with single Close Your Eyes, but it does however mean Felix Jaehn has a brand new personal best for the second week running. This has had a positive impact on RHODES' debut album Wishes too, released last year. It soared to a #1 debut and is back at the top spot today after over a year. It knocks Tom Odell's Spending All My Christmas With You EP off the top spot, as it drops 10 places to #11, marking the biggest drop from #1 in my album chart ever (mostly down to Christmas now being over!).
In an otherwise quiet week, only Kent Jones also achieves a new personal best, thanks to his feature on M.O's Not In Love which is up two places to #8. There's a re-entry from Sean Paul and Dua Lipa with No Lie at a new peak of #30, and Lady Gaga finally enters at #36 with Million Reasons. As of right now, it's looking to be her first single to miss my top 10 since my chart began, but things may change if it climbs up!
