Joseph's Hit 40

It was an incredibly tight battle for #1 this week, as Cheat Codes took on Tom Jay Williams, and I was undecided over which should be #1 until the very last minute. Ultimately, it was Cheat Codes who won out with their Demi Lovato collaboration No Promises. It becomes their third #1, following Let Me Hold You (Turn Me On) and Shed a Light, plus lead vocalist Trevor Dahl also scored his own #1 hit with When You Come Home last year. Demi has one previous #1 hit, in the form of Somebody to You with The Vamps. No Promises becomes her ninth top 10 hit, and first since top 5 hit Body Say last year. Cheat Codes only have three top 40 hits, but all three have made it to #1!

Also climbing high this week is Sofia Reyes, who claims her third top 10 hit, almost two years after her last one. Promo single LOUDER! (Love is Loud) makes a belated impact following my listen of her debut album, which also contains her previous hits Muévelo and Conmigo (Rest of Your Life). The song features singer Francesco Yates, who scores his first top 10 hit, and trumpeter Spencer Ludwig, who is a newcomer to my chart.

It's divided opinion already but I'm firmly in the love camp for Iggy Azalea's new single Mo Bounce. Iggy's one of the most successful artists in the history of my chart, scoring seven #1 singles, easily the highest for any rapper, and although Mo Bounce doesn't instantly reach those heights, it gives Iggy her 14th top 10 hit as it debuts at #7.

Narrowly losing out on the #1 this week is newcomer Tom Jay Williams. Tom auditioned for Australian Idol in the past, and joined Australian pop group At Sunset in 2014. He left in 2016 to pursue solo projects and Closure is his debut release. It's an instant hit in my chart, rocketing 14 places in its first full week, becoming this week's highest climber.

Martin Jensen is the only artist to make his chart debut this week, as Solo Dance enters at #35. Lil Wayne matches his personal best, as he enters at #25 with David Guetta and Nicki Minaj on Light My Body Up, the same place where Beth Sherburn collaboration Joker peaked.

New at #15 is Lewis Watson, who scores a fourth chart hit from second album midnight, which climbs to #1 in the album chart this week. Benjamin Lasnier is new at #17 with Somebody to Hurt, becoming his fourth top 20 hit and outpeaking previous hit Everythang, which got to #19.
