Ginuwine rides to his first ever Number 1-hit!

Ginuwine scores his first Number 1-hit on the list with the sexy Pony. The American rapper Ginuwine started his career as a member of Swing Mob in the early 1990s, before signing to Epic Records in 1995. Ginuwine released his first album as a soloist in 1996, titled “Ginuwine… The Bachelor”. To say his album has been a success is an understatement, as it was a massive hit on the American charts and charts worldwide. The first single from the album was Pony and was released in August 1996 in America. It was later released in European countries, gaining success there as well. On this list, Ginuwine dethrones Eternal’s I Wanna Be the Only One after it spent one week at Number 1.

Frans Bauer and Marianne Weber score their first Top 10-entry with their collaboration on De Regenboog. The two singers are household names in Dutch folk music, having scored loads of hits. Frans Bauer started his career with the hit Als sterren aan de hemel staan, which became a success in the Dutch Top 40. Frans Bauer became famous for his contemporary version of the popular folk music, scoring multiple successful albums and singles. Marianne Weber is a highly successful songstress in her own right, also having scored big hits such as Diep In Mijn Hart. The two forces now collaborate on De Regenboog, a spunky duet. The song already topped the charts in the Netherlands and is a success in Belgium as well. On this list, the song peaks at Number 6 this week.

Two songs re-enter the Top 10 this week. Daft Punk peak at Number 5 with Around the World, surpassing their initial peak at Number 10 earlier this month. Lutricia McNeal does the same with Ain't That Just the Way. She previously entered the Top 10 at Number 10 exactly, but now surpasses her peak and reaches Number 8.

Hanson score the highest debut of the week. The group consists of the three teen brothers Isaac Hanson, Taylor Hanson and Zac Hanson. The boys are becoming a global success with their breakthrough song MMMBOP, which is undeniably catchy. The song is becoming a phenomenal Number 1-hit in countries worldwide, including the United Kingdom. The single serves as the lead single from their debut full length studio album, ‘Middle of Nowhere’. On this list, the brothers debut at Number 20.
