The Spice Girls celebrate a second week at Number 1 with Spice Up Your Life. The song is the girls’ sixth chart-topper on this list, following massive successes such as Wannabe and Who Do You Think You Are. Internationally, the song performs highly successful as well. In the United Kingdom, the hit debuted above the list with 321,000 copies sold in its first week. This made the Spice Girls the first group to reach Number 1 with their first five official singles, and the first to debut at the top of the chart four times in a row. The song is also commercially successful in the rest of Europe.
Fleetwood Mac score their first Top 10-entry with Landslide. The song was first featured on the band's self-titled 1975 album “Fleetwood Mac”. Immediately upon its release, the heartfelt ballad was acclaimed by critics and became a hit on the Billboard 100. Now, twenty-two years after its release, the song makes an appearance on this list because of Fleetwood Mac’s newest single Silver Springs. Fleetwood Mac their original Landslide peaks at Number 10 this week.
Diana King scores the highest debut of the week. The Jamaican songstress is no stranger to scoring big songs, as she signed two highly successful hits to her name with Shy Guy and Ain’t Nobody. Both singles peaked at Number 2 and received Platinum-certifications. Her most successful single to date remains her debut Shy Guy which amassed over 96,000 points and still holds as one of the most successful hits of all time. Her newest effort is a cover of the original by Aretha Franklin, being I Say A Little Prayer. The cover debuts at Number 19 this week and marks her first appearance on the list in two years.
Meredith Brooks earns a Platinum Certification for her unapologetic hit Bitch. The song spent one week at Number 1 before being dethroned by Elton John with Candle In The Wind 1997. The single has scored 65,000 points as of this week.
