No Doubt climb to their first Number 1-hit

No Doubt celebrate their first Number 1-hit with Don’t Speak. The single is now their highest-charting entry to date, surpassing Just a Girl which peaked at Number 3 earlier last year. Their single is becoming a massive success around the world, peaking within in the Top 10 on numerous lists. In the United Kingdom, the single peaked at Number 1. The group, led by frontwoman Gwen Stefani, is the second American group with both men and women in the line-up to reach Number 1. The first were the Fugees with Killing Me Softly in 1996. Overall, they are the twelfth American act to reach the top of the list. No Doubt dethrone Céline Dion of the crown-position, whom spent two weeks atop with her fourth Number 1-single All By Myself.

No Mercy score their second Top 10-entry with When I Die. The American boy group entered the Top 10 before with the big hit Where Do You Go, which peaked at Number 2 and was certified Gold. Their newest effort is slower ballad. The song is a commercial success worldwide, reaching the Top 10 in numerous European countries. On this list, No Mercy reach Number 9 this week.

NSYNC scores the highest debut of the week. The American boy group has not entered the list before, making I Want You Back their debut single. Their song was already a big hit in the United Kingdom and is slowly gaining success in other European countries. The video clip adds to the success, as it features the boys dancing amazingly in outer space. NSYNC follows many big boy groups on the list, following Take That, the Backstreet Boys and Wet Wet Wet. This fun group, consisting of Chris Kirkpatrick, Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, enters at Number 23 this week.
