Sentio - Martin Garrix (Album Rank)

Hello everyone! My name is Luca. I'll be ranking albums and artist discographies for albums/artists that I love either recently or through the years. This also includes future upcoming albums and artists. This time we are starting off with Martin Garrix's 'Sentio'

What can I say? It’s finally here. Martin Garrix’s debut album under his own name after 10 years has finally released. The day he announced the album he said it would be a ‘club’ album, which was quite unexpected. Yes, it may have some club songs, but it also includes some radio-friendly tunes as well so if club songs are not your thing don't let it put you off. Anyway, I love this album to bits.

As you can see from the rank below, I do favour the lyrical more radio-friendly songs but that doesn’t mean that the club songs are bad either. In fact, the top 5 is very close and had I made this rate yesterday the number 1 song would have been different to what it is now.

Starlight (Keep Me Afloat) has the best melody in the album. Martin first played this song as an instrumental a couple of months ago in a gig and it was love at first listen. When I first heard the song with lyrics, I was kind of disappointed because I felt that it covered the melody, but it has grown on me very quickly beating…

Follow. Follow was probably the best song Martin could have chosen as the first song for this album and truly respected the idea of a ‘club’ album.

If We’ll Ever Be Remembered was another song that I heard first instrumentally and then with the lyrics and I just connect with these lyrics because they reflect my philosophy and idea of life which is living a life where people will remember you for the impact that you had on their life.

Other reflections:
-I need to start looking into Brooks more. So far out of all the songs that he’s involved as a collab I’ve enjoyed.
-Maybe if I were listening to some of the club songs, I’d enjoy them even more
-I like how Martin Garrix has ventured into his progressive sound which you could hear a bit in the first songs he made
-Martin Garrix is such a great producer. He seriously did deserve to win DJ Mag’s award for best DJ for 3 years in a row

Overall: 3 words to describe the album? I loved it. I definitely can see myself playing it loads in the future
