Hi Piran!
Congratulations to Maia Wright becoming the first artist in your chart to replace herself at #1 in back-to-back weeks!
I also like the Christmas takeover still, even though all the christmas songs dropped in my chart!
I really need to hear the rest of Maia Wright's discography still.
Great chart as always!
I put up my new chart with the link in the group chat. Check it out if you have the time!
Have a very happy new year!
Hey Sergej! :)
Yeah, it's a really incredible achievement for her! She should be #1 next week, but it looks to be either yet another week for 'Body Back'. or potentially her dethroning herself for a third consecutive week with 'When I'm With U', so stay tuned for that, haha.
Every Christmas song will drop out entirely next week, which will cause a surge of climbers, re-entries & debuts elsewhere, so that's going to be very hectic given the festive takeover this week will evaporate entirely!
I'll comment on your new chart now.
Who is Maia Wright? Never heard of her but she is dominating your chart with I think 5 songs? Is she like someone to look out for in 2020? I'm intrigued. I think your chart next week will be interesting with many re-entries. Ive noticed Gryffin and Carly with OMG is a potential song to climb up for you. I played that constantly a few months back. Very catchy and underrated. I look forward to your new chart. My chart of the year will be up on Sunday.
Hey Zack! :)
'OMG' could even debut in the Top 5 for me next week when all the Christmas songs inevitably drop out, despite me being a few months late to it, haha.
Speaking of which, that leads us into Maia Wright very well... so Gryffin's latest single is called 'Body Back', which has Maia Wright on vocals. It ended up being one of my favourite songs of 2019, with this being its fifth non-consecutive week at #1 for me!
Anyway, because I found 'Body Back' to be so incredible, I started looking back through both artists' discography.
As for Maia Wright herself, she's a 21-year-old singer-songwriter from Sweden, who is mainly a pop artist by herself, but is more of an upcoming name in the dance scene, as shown by all of the collaborations listed here. In 'Body Back's case, it went into the Top 15 on Billboard's Hot Dance/EDM Songs Chart a few weeks ago, but I think you need to hear some of her songs to really understand why she's set to be huge in 2020 in my opinion, because she sounds amazing!
I'm very excited to hear what your favourite songs of the past year have been.
Have a nice weekend!
incredibly you giving me a taste to look into Maia Wright she seems to be dominant on your chart. Happy to see The Chainsmokers PS I Hope You Happy moving up nicely and it is the song we have in common in the chart in both our top 10s. What I like about your chart edm music is dominating and that's my favourite especially i feel 2020 I will be moving across deeply to EDM more of it
Hey Brandy! :)
Oh yeah, if you love EDM, then Maia Wright is definitely a new artist to check out! She's actually a singer instead of a DJ, but she sounds so impressive on dance songs.
'P.S. I Hope You're Happy' was so close to #1 for me this week, so I'm glad to see it enter the Top 10 of your own chart this past week!
There'll be a lot more of this kind of music entering my chart next week, given that all the Christmas songs will be dropping out.
Thanks for the comment!
Hey Piran! Body Back at #1 is absolutely amazing to see, as it had to put up with tight competition from P.S I Hope You're Happy. Also, I have to applaud Maia Wright for breaking another record! Elsewhere, it's awesome to see Christmas songs make that final takeover on your chart, with more of these festive hits debuting. I really love the debut for BBY as it could be really big on my chart, as well as River and Can't Fight This Feeling, and it's cool to see the aforementioned Maia landing three debuts too. Great chart again! ;)
Hey Coolocelot! :)
Yeah, 'Body Back' did take the lead after all, but what's even better is that it's currently heading for a sixth non-consecutive week at #1 next Thursday! That would tie with 'Senorita', which was the longest #1 of 2019 as you might remember.
Enjoy the Christmas takeover while it lasts, because none of them will be here next week!
On that topic, 'BBY' will taking a massive gain next week, probably around the 11-20 region.
Maia Wright could have as many as four songs in next week's Top 10!
Thanks for the comment mate.
Hi Piran! I love seeing Christmas songs rank so high on your chart (especially All I Want For Christmas is You, Santa Tell Me, Rocking Around the Christmas Tree, and Underneath the Tree). I also am curious if Don't Start Now will continue descending or if it will reach the top 10 once again. Unfortunately, while I've tried listening to it multiple times, I am still not impressed with the Weeknds new songs. I just posted my Mikael101's Hot 20 Songs of the Year: 2019 Edition (http://crownnote.com/charts/mikael101/mikael101s-hot-20-songs-of-the-ye…) so please check it out if you have time. Overall great festive chart and have a great weekend!
Hey Mikael! :)
I'm glad you enjoyed such a massive Christmas takeover, since all those songs will inevitably be gone by next week.
'Don't Start Now' will certainly be rebounding in the next chart (along with many other non-festive songs), but I'm not sure if it'll return to the Top 10 unless Dua Lipa puts out her sophomore album in the next few weeks!
Unfortunately though, at least in your case, it seems like 'Blinding Lights' will return to the Top 10 next week.
I'm very excited to check out your chart of the year!
Thanks for commenting here too.
Hey Piran! It's great to see 'Body Back' returning to #1 this week, especially with Maia Wright breaking a chart record by being the only artist to replace herself at #1 in 2 consecutive weeks in the process! It's been done a couple of times before on my charts, with The Weeknd achieving it with 'Call Out My Name' -> 'Try Me' -> 'Wasted Times', and Ariana doing it almost a year later with 'bad idea' -> 'bloodline' -> 'break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored', though Camila has the record on this one. She did it for 3 consecutive weeks with 'Havana' -> 'OMG' -> 'Havana' -> 'Crying in the Club'! It'll be really cool to see if Maia Wright can achieve the same on your charts next week! Anyway, it's cool to see the Christmas takeover this week, and I really like seeing 'When I'm With U' debuting at #12! I actually only checked this out yesterday, and it's pretty likely to debut on my next chart as well! It's great that Maia Wright did very well here this week, especially among the Christmas takeover, with a total of 5 tracks in the Top 40! Great chart again! :D
Hey Gameskiller! :)
Yeah, Maia Wright is doing things that neither Taylor nor Camila have done in just a few weeks of me discovering her, so she has massive potential here! I've already edited my predictions in, where she should have three songs inside next week's Top 5, but 'Body Back' is out in front for a 6th non-consecutive week at #1.
To be fair, it's kind of amazing that she's the only artist we can really comment outside of the Christmas takeover, haha!
I'll comment on your new chart now.
Thanks for the reply here!
Hey Piran! Good thing you reloaded new forces on your holiday break. Amazing to see Maia Wright replacing herself in the top spot and also debuting at No.12 with "When I'm With U" and No. 16 with "Decisions." From now on I'll pay special attention to this artist. I really like watching Christmas classics still on your chart on the first day of the year. As always, great songs on a great chart. I wish you the best in your new job and in everything you undertake. Happy New Year to you, your friends, readers and followers! And may the great music continue! :D
Hey Rockmaker! :)
Definitely give Maia Wright attention, since at aged just 21, she's already one of the best female vocalists on EDM hits I've ever heard.
It's no wonder that she'll get three songs in my Top 5 next week thanks to all the Christmas songs dropping away!
Thanks for all of your comments here over the course of 2019.
Best of wishes to you for the New Year!
Maia Wright becomes the first artist in chart history to replace herself at #1 in back-to-back weeks ('Body Back' -> 'Wait For You' last week, 'Wait For You' -> 'Body Back' this week).
