The chart notes are back! Huzzah!
- Ghost spends its fourth week at the top with "Square Hammer", needing just one more week to tie "From The Pinnacle to The Pit" for weeks spent at #1. The stiff competition from Metallica and "Moth Into Flame", though, could wind up preventing Ghost from even tying their biggest Red 50 hit...
- The top four remains somewhat static, with only Highly Suspect and K.Flay switching spots, but the last spot in the top five remains a hot potato. This week, it's Leonard Cohen's turn, and, given that his song is a possible #1 contender, all signs suggest that "You Want It Darker" will be the song that breaks this trend of songs hitting #5 and then falling the next week.
- We have two new entries into the top ten, as AFI and Red Hot Chili Pepeprs jump in with "Snow Cats" and "Go Robot", respectively. Avenged Sevenfold was *this* close to making the top 10 with "The Stage", as well, and it'll be fun to see which of the three songs winds up outpeaking the other...
- A couple of songs continued their upward trajectory towards top ten glory this week, as "Latchkey Kids" by Silversun Pickups rocketed into the top 20 at #16, and AFI's "White Offerings" looks to join its single brother-in-arms, as it moves up to #15...but the biggest gain of the week, not surprisingly, belongs to Norma Jean's "Everyone Talking Over Everyone Else", which moves up eight spots in its second week to #31.
- Oh, surprise, surprise, three debuts. The highest belongs to a song that, frankly, should have already debuted by now, but I'm actually glad it didn't, because I like the song now more than I ever have: The 1975's "Somebody Else" debuts at #45. Right below it is The Beaches' "Give It Up" at #46, and Kings of Leon's next radio single, "Reverend", rounds out the debuts at #49.
- Of course, that means that we have some dropouts, and these are all big ones. The Naked and Famous and Alter Bridge fall out with their top five Red 50 tracks "Higher" and "Show Me A Leader", but the BIG dropout this week is Chevelle, as former #1 "Joyride" says goodbye after an impressive run.
