The first chart of 2019 sees Ariana Grande replacing herself at #1 with "breathin", which finally ascends to the summit, as the first new chart-topper of the year, after spending 8 consecutive weeks in the runner-up spot, below 3 different #1s: The Killers' "The Man", Ciara's "Level Up", and Grande's own "thank u, next", which slips to #2 following 4 straight weeks at the summit, and thus makes Grande the only artist to have ever spent 5 straight weeks in the top 2 spots.
Jason Derulo also hits a new high, as "Goodbye", featuring David Guetta, Nicki Minaj and Willy William, goes up to #3, effectively joining the 2019 roster. The aforementioned "The Man" holds steady at #4, after having been #1 for 4 weeks in late 2018, and Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus enter the top 5 with their collaboration, "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart".
Below the top 5, a major revamping occurs, with 5 new songs making the cut. Ava Max debuts the highest with "Sweet but Psycho" coming in at #6; at #7, we find Ellie Goulding and "Close to Me", her collaboration with Diplo and Swae Lee; at #8, Bazzi and Camila Cabello duet on "Beautiful"; at #9, we find Shawn Mendes "Lost in Japan"; and closing off the top 10, the duet between R&B stars Ella Mai and Chris Brown, "Whatchamacallit".
