Chart

Dark's Top 25

Ladies and Gents, welcome back to my chart for this week, I've decided that i'm going to be doing a sort of weekly writeup now of what has been going on in my charts and giving my opinions on these new songs and most importantly the Top 3 songs of the week. I look forward to doing this so that you guys can see my thought process with my judgement of choices.

So let's get into this week's chart the 16th week and already that sounds crazy to me (Also side note at the bottom of the chart I will notify you guys of the songs that have dropped out of the chart this week all going forward, and maybe at some point I'll get back to adding that into earlier weeks but only that part). This week we saw 6 brand new entries storm into this week's chart all with their different reasons and instead like previous weeks where they've debuted at a lower spot, these songs are some high contenders as 4 of these new entries are in the Top 10. So let's go through these songs and others that have a big impact this week, so let's start with...

Number 24 : Post Malone ft Swae Lee - Sunflower - Re Entry

After 6 weeks of being out of the charts, The song has returned to the chart for it's 5th week. The main reason for it's return was my personal call back to Movie Soundtracks as for some movies there isn't a lot of great songs that do well on the charts, as an example for me personally. When Happy from DM 2 by Pharrell Williams came about in late 2013 it was a great hit and was the best selling song for 2014 the following year, you would expect that a follow up track for DM 3 would do just as well if not better and when Yellow Light came out I was very much hooked thinking there it is another number 1 for that man right there however it just never took off for personally I don't see why, It was a different contrast to the previous hit but worked well, nonetheless I wanted to bring light to these songs as they are great and thinking back I listened once again to Sunflower and kept falling in love with the song again despite the movie being out of cinemas a while ago and been on DVD/Blue Ray for a good while as well. But It's one of the only Spiderman movies i've watched but if something as such of a sequal were to occur, I would instantly go see it at the cinema for how amazing it was. As such it's re entered the chart and might spend a few weeks back in the chart but as to if it will be a top contender, who knows?

Number 21 : Rynx ft Mainland - Read My Mind - New Entry

This is now Rynx's 5th Chart hit now in the Top 25 (4th as the lead artist) which makes him now the artist with the most Tracks to appear on the charts just one ahead of Marshmello. This in of itself is a good feat and there's a very good reason for this. Now I love and still do to this day, Vanoss Gaming which is the main man just behind a different name. Now he hasn't ever offically said he is but when looking at specifically his Ice Bucket Challenge you can clearly see that they are the same person. But it isn't just the fact it's because he's a youtuber that I love, it the fact that his music is what I would personally say is my type of music that he is producing which I love. Although he hasn't reached the Number 1 spot just yet, don't write it off as he could easily pull a Number 1 out of the bag in seconds. As having kind of unknown but kind of known artist in his music is awesome, The vocals he's gotten are incredible to the likes of his first hit with Miranda Glory to this hit now with Mainland, he just finds the right people to work with and with his skills makes an amazing piece of music, only I wish he was more exposed to the mainstream audience so that they could also experience his amazing songs. Nonetheless expect to see more from not just this track but more from rynx as this chart goes on.

Number 19: KEiiNO - Spirit In The Sky - Up 6

This week's highest climber comes from KEiiNO as after the Eurovision takeover this song gave the magic that we all love for the contest and had amazing vocalists on the track, The fact that with the massive amount of public votes they got, if they had a run like north macedonia did from this year's contest (Btw I thought the song was terrible and I don't know why the even got a single vote, but that's just my opinion anyway but I won't discredit if you like or love the song, anyway) they would've smashed it out of the water and we would instead be going to Norway for Eurovision 2020. Sadly this wasn't the case but they still had a great vote from the public because there's no denying that it had that Eurovision feel and personally I think that is great to have something very different added to a song and that's why it's is this week's highest climber, expect to see more from this song in the coming weeks.

Number 18: Lewis Capaldi - Grace - Up 3

After being in the chart for so long it is now the only track out of the original top 10 to still be in the charts as Idol fell out of the charts this week, Which offically mean this song is the longest run in the charts history and only orginal song left, despite the fact the song has never been at the Number 1 spot which is insane. Personally I've prefered this to his UK Number 1 track Someone You Loved as it's just more memorable to me and with a cheeky music video to add to that you have a brilliant song, and I think instead of the emotional songs, it feels like this is more not just his own style but feels like we're seeing him as to who he truly is rather than a sobby sad song, as looking through interviews with Lewis it just seems that he's more comparative to Grace than any of his other tracks, and it's why it's stayed in the chart for so long, the question is though, will it ever get to the top spot, that and how much longer will the track stay in the Top 25. Only time will tell that's for sure.

Number 15: Benjamin Ingrosso - Dance You Off - New Entry

Just thinking back to songs from Eurovision that personally made an impact to me was this song here from Mr Benjamin Ingrosso, as the name Ingrosso should be familiar to some people with Swedish House Mafia or Axwell ^ Ingrosso, as yes Benjamin is from the same family and is the younger brother of the famous Swedish DJ. The song didn't win him the contest last year but was one hell of a song that could've had the chance to bring it back to Sweden like it always seems to do, The song with his 'dancing; is very fitting for the song and when listening back to the retail version instead of the live version, especially when you compare it to this years contenders. That the track sounds just like if he was performing it live right now as I've noticed that with some of the songs. Such as Friend of a Friend was really good live but sounds pretty crap in the retail version. To have that similar talent and be bold to use that in music where you can easliy autotune is something I really appreciate in people that they aren't afraid of their voice or truly have natural talent Llke I believe that this young man does.

Number 10: Craig David - When You Know What Love Is - New Entry

Now his second song in the charts and the first as a lead artist Craig David has been known to the industry for roughly 20 years now which is insane, he hasn't ages a day and his music is very very good like it always has been. For his latest hit When You Know What Love Is, has a similar sound to his previous hits but works really well with his vocals going through the tempo of the chorus and works really what wells with the beats that are added to the track. Ever since his return to music back in 2014, Craig has released some great songs overtime with this style and it could easily be his second number 1 of the charts and as we know Marshmello is the only artist to have multiple number 1's so far. This could either surprise everyone as the top song or it could flop, we'll have to wait and see to find out what option comes true.

Number 8: Mark Ronson ft Lykke Li - Late Night Feelings - New Entry

Mark Ronson is a man who has had countless hits some very well known others not so much. For this song I would say this is a mixture of known and not so much, but the song has a similar feeling to his other songs that you would recoginising the song if you heard and went yes I know this but maybe not the name of the song. However it has gotten into the UK Top 40 which is good but whereas will the song have a massive impact, that is unsure at this moment in time as it could either have a massive impact or not much of one at all. Either way like his other hits this is a song I could easily say that in years to come I would remember, maybe not the name but the feel for his songs are always warming and have a very memorable impact.

Number 6: Jess Glynne & Jax Jones - One Touch - New Entry

Great to see my man Jax Jones making great songs like he always does and now that he's working with Jess Glynne (The woman with the most UK Number 1's for a Female UK artist) is expectional. In my memory I can recall back to early 2014 where in that year Jess and Jax got their first number 1's at a similar time so coming full circle 5 years later is really a dream collab come true. And honestly this song does not disapointed at all. Already making an impact in the UK Top 40, I expect the song to keep on rising from this point on, I won't be surprised to see the song at Number 1 not just only here but in the offical chart as well. With a simple beat it works well as it doesn't take away any vocal power from Jess which is perfect cause more Jess vocals means it works greatly, Expect this to be a top contender as early as next week for the top spot.

Number 3: James Hype ft Craig David - No Drama - Down 2

Ladies and Gents that does mean we have a New Number 1 this week as the song has had a strong showing and after the Eurovision takeover, it came rightout of left field to the top spot and spending 2 weeks at the top spot is great for the song which when comparing his hit More Than Friends that brought him to light he showed that he can really make banging hits. With that though his reign at the top is over, but don't write it out that it could return to the top spot easily at some point for how good the song is, and like mentioned we have a New Number 1, but who can take the top spot from James and Craig?

Number 2: Katy Perry - Never Really Over - New Entry

Well it may not be a straight to number 1 for Katy but her true return to music as a lead artist and is now her highest charting appearence after her hit with Zedd, 365 which ironiclly is produced by Zedd as you may tell by his now infamous ticking clock in his songs he writes. Apart from that note which is kinda of annoying, the song is certainly anything but as similarly the chorus shows off Katy's vocals instead of the beat of the song which is sort of unusual for something that Zedd produced but the song really works in the fact of the way the music video is quite goofy but works how just she styles her videos. Although she hasn't debuted at the top spot this week it can easily grab the top spot next week as this song is much better than her collab on 365 so expect it to be a top contender next week as well. But what song can be at the top spot if not Katy?

Number 1: Meduza ft Goodboys - Piece Of Your Heart - Up 1

Well this isn't surprising at all, the song has done brilliantly in not only these charts but almost making it number 1 on the UK charts. This is now the 3rd non consecutive week at the top spot now making it only the 2nd song after Marshmello and CHVRCHES to reach the number 1 spot and reclaim it back. But it's really no surprise whatsoever the song has amazing bass and the fact that 6 people were working on the song is surprising for how simple but effective the song is. If I personally had to pick a current song that I would put permamantly as my favourite song of 2019 so far, this would win by miles. But will they be able to stay at the top of the charts next week? We have some great new songs that are top contenders for the number 1 songs, Don't forget the likes of Clean Bandit and Avicii for massive songs or some surprises from the likes of Onerepublic and Seeb, Jorja Smith and Stormzy. We'll see next week what the chart looks like and which new songs could have a massive impact on the charts.

(Also I'm going to be announcing soon which songs are in top contention for being the Number 1 Song Of The Year, With the current favourite being Here With Me from Marshmello but we'll soon get round to showing how the stats show up in Top 40 mode half way through the chart.)

Thank you everyone and I look forward to next week :)
