10. The 1975 – I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it (re-entry)

Congratulations to Katy Perry who remains at number 1 for a second week with “Daisies”. The song is great for the summer and surprisingly held off competition from Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande who could only enter at number 6. “Rain on me” still has a chance to grow on me and has the potential to climb. Many surprise climbers into the top 5, including Judith Hill’s (former backing vocalist for Michael Jackson and US Voice contestant) excellent cover of “In the Air Tonight” which featured on my chart as it was played on an episode of “Little Fires Everywhere”. Meanwhile Natalie Taylor’s breakthrough hit “Surrender” is the biggest climber of the week, up to number 3. Ellie Goulding has the highest new entry at number 4 with “Power” (sounds so similar to Dua Lipa’s “Be The One”) and a new unknown artist AYALA has a brilliant tearjerker track with “Let go” at number 5. Foxes returns to the charts with a respectable new entry at no.7 while DaBaby also climbs up to the top 10 with “Rockstar”. Meanhwile "Blinding Lights" and "Physical" finally drop out of the top 10 but are very likley to remain in the top 40 for a long time!

On the album front, The 1975 enter straight at number 1 with “Notes on a Conditional form”. Carly Rae Jepsen enters at no. 2 with “Dedicated Side B” which has some catchy pop tunes!

Bubbling under the chart:

Powfu – Death Bed

Sam Fender – Saturday

Next week, there appears to be bigger album releases rather than singles. Lady Gaga and Kygo both release new albums with the potential of album tracks entering the top 40.

Other potential new entries next week include:

Britney Spears (not a new release but a song released on streaming by demand “Mood Ring”)

Tones & I

Ella Eyre & Banx & Ranx ft Yxng Bane

Woooa how are you?
Suprises on your chart! Very interesting Katy kept strong for another week it's still slowly growing on me!

I like the strong top 10 debuts
"Power",Rain On Me, & the one by Foxes although it didn't really grow on me but it is a fair song!
I like the huge jump from Dababy !Interest to see Carly Rae Jepsen the album was ok a few tracks to choose she can sing but I wonder if it's unlack of promotion As for me Side A was better I will still give Side B another listen .I like the Sia one too very powerful produced i guess she produced it! I can as well comment on the point you made on my chart about 1975 yah I am not really familiar with them because of the unpopularity in South Africa!
! l like the gain for In Your Eyes due to remix very better than the original? ?
& That Kygo "The Truth " is incredible it sounds like Higher love on the instrument as also Like it is similar to Higher Love Don't you think some of Kygo instruments sounds similar especially those i mentioned?
On the albums very interesting I guess I will give 1975 a listen but I guess genre is rock /alternative / poprock? I like seeing all those albums and appreciate Dermot Kennedy endurance in the chart the guy is extremely talented Power over me & Outnumbered are my favourite and to be honest
sometimes the label prevent the stars from getting international to unlack of promotion? ?
Outnumberedwas perfectly writen especially torwads the end of the song he pulled the vocals beautiful it reached my heart!
Looking forward to next week
Excellent chart! !!!!

Im good thanks. Yes, a lot of surprises. Next week it may be tight but Katy Perry's "Daisies" is not going to rapidly fall any time soon. Yeah, Foxes is not known internationally that well, although she did win a grammy for her vocals on "clarity". Yeah, Carly's album was a surprise release and no promotion, but the 3 tracks on my chart are the most catchy and could have easily fit in well on side A. "This love isnt crazy" is the standout track, sounds so great in the sunshine. Regarding "In your eyes remix", i dont think the Doja Cat vocals adds to much to the track in my opinion. I used the like the days back in 2000 era where remixes of a song would be an entirely different sound, they dont seem to do that these days but just add a feature which is sometimes rushed and not needed. Oh i agree, a lot of Kygo's songs do all sound the same, you can hear the same sounds and beat and i can usually guess his music from the chorus. His album is good though, all tracks worth a listen and few may enter my chart next week. Yeah 1975 is alternative rock, i do like their album in 2016 and my fave of theirs is "somebody else" and "chocolate". Dermot Kennedy and Sam Fender (his album is amazing too) have dominated my top 10 album chart this year. Every track on their album is amazing, their sound wont be popular in S.Africa but i like what they sing about. I think next week look out for Lady Gaga and Kygo album tracks and a possible surprise from Britney Spears "mood ring". The song was released in Japan only several years ago and is now available to stream so all the Britney fans have been purchasing it. It is number 1 in many countries in the world including USA and no. 5 in UK. It may just do well for 1 week and then fall into oblivion. ive also been listening to "Oops I did it again" ...20 years!!!

There's a time one song
"Let go for tonight baby
Let love in your life and be shown (turn off the lights)
Let go for tonight baby, who needs sleep tonight? "
It brings memories to myself!
But normally I'm a person that likes to listen to all kinds of genres as long it's dope but I grew up liking Rnb it's recent when David Guetta & Calvin & Swedish House Mafia came into the picture that's when I got interested to all kinds of genres! !!

Hi Zack!
Nice to see "Daisies" still at #1, I also like the debuts for "Rain On Me", "Love Not Loving You", "This Love Isn't Crazy", "Comeback", "The Truth" and "Solo"!
Great chart!

Hey Zack! :)
I love seeing 'Rain On Me' debut as high as #6, along with 'Rockstar' taking a huge leap into the Top 10.
The 1975 & Carly Rae Jepsen both doing so well on the albums chart is good too, allowing them to also have a breakthrough on the singles chart!
Nice chart once again.
Stay safe!

Hey Zack! I see that you really love that new Katy Perry song! However, I'm particularly happy that you finally managed to listen to Bad Friend by Rina Sawayama and that it finally managed to get into your chart! I hope it will grow on you. I loved your chart this week.
