My Top 50 - 09/30/2018

Ariana Grande returns to #1, but it's not the track you'd expect; Marshmello and Bastille earn Greatest Gainer.

A new #1 is crowned. Ariana Grande returns to #1 with a Sweetener track, but instead of a third week at the top for "God is a Woman" (which slides 2-3 this week), it's "breathin", which becomes her fourth leader following "God", "Into You" and "Side to Side". The track manages to take down "Electricity" after three weeks at the top spot.

Marshmello and Bastille jump to #4 from #21 with "Happier". The track almost matches the Anne-Marie assisted "FRIENDS" which reached #3 for Marshmello, while Bastille previously had a hit with "Pompeii".

#2 hit "Girls Like You" is steady at #5 for Maroon 5 and Cardi B, while 5 Seconds Of Summer move to #6 with "Youngblood", a new highpoint for the band. Calvin Harris follows with the Sam Smith assisted "Promises" at #7, after reaching a #6 peak so far.

Sliding down to #8 from it's #3 peak is The Chainsmokers' "Side Effects" featuring Emily Warren. Their new single featuring Kelsea Ballerini starts at #44 this week and is titled "This Feeling". It evokes their previous hit "Closer" which may bode well for the song's future

Little Mix and Cheat Codes earn a top 10 hit with "Only You", which finally cracks the region. It's the first entry into the top 10 for Cheat Codes, while Little Mix already visited the region with "Touch", "No More Sad Songs" and "Reggaetón Lento". Imagine Dragons closes the top 10 this week with "Natural".

Below that region. "everytime" looks like a safe bet to become Sweetener's fourth top 10 hit as it moves up to #15 for Ariana Grande. Bebe Rexha joins top 15 with "I'm a Mess",  while Bazzi earns his first top 20 hit with the help of Camila Cabello on "Beautiful".

Rita Ora earns the biggest debut at #25 with "Let You Love Me". Save for "Girls", all her singles since 2017's "Your Song" have gone top 10, and this track is looking like a contender too. Zedd's remix of "Lost in Japan" manages to resurrect the #2 peaking Shawn Mendes hit, prompting a #26 re-entry. Dean Lewis, Dennis Lloyd, Roger Marin, Maurice and the aforementioned Kelsea Ballerini all earn their first chart entries.

As of this chart, the biggest song on the chart to date remains "New Rules". The venerable hit leaves the chart after 67 weeks. Three Dua Lipa songs remain charting: "Electricity" at #2, "One Kiss" at #12 after 15 weeks at #1, and "Want To" which slides from it's debut at 12 to 14.
