These are my Top 100 songs of the year. The list is mainly based on my 2018 Leaderboard, but I also took into account an excel spredsheet I have with a different point system, and also rearranged some songs as I saw convenient. I also applied a rule in the top 20: Just 1 song per artist per tenth, i.e, an artist could only have 1 song in the top 10 and 1 song in the top 20. You can call this clause "Twenty One Pilots and Post Malone nerf clause" xD.
This has been, in my opinion, one of the best years for music, and I think it's the one in which I've listened to the most music.
I had 18 #1 songs this year. The longest running song at #1 was... Levitate! by twenty one pilots, 12 weeks at #1. The runner-up was Whatever It Takes with 8 weeks at #1. The third spot is shared by Psycho and No Hay Nadie Más, with 4 weeks each. The rest of the songs that went #1 were: The Hype, My Blood, Nico and the Niners and Let You Down (3 weeks), Chlorine (2 weeks), and Natural, Jumpsuit, Guatemala, Without You, Levels, Hey Brother, I Could Be The One, Wake Me Up and Over Again (1 week).
twenty one pilots were #1 for 24 WEEKS! Almost half the year.
From there, 78 songs joined the top 10 for at least 1 week. I will not mention everyone (obviously) but the 3 songs with the most weeks in the top 10 were: Whatever It Takes (20 weeks), Psycho and Natural (18 weeks), and Nico and the Niners (17 weeks).
Imagine Dragons songs really have some longevity. Also, from the songs that charted in the top 10, each spent an average of 6.41 weeks there.
Last but not least, 286 songs charted at least 1 week on my chart this year. Each one spent an average of 7 weeks! on the chart, which seems very low if compared with the songs that spent the most time on the chart: Whatever It Takes (33 weeks), Without You (31 weeks), Passenger Side (29 weeks), God's Plan (27 weeks) and Psycho and No Hay Nadie Más (26 weeks). More than half a year each!
Let's tak a bit about THIS chart... The Top 100 Songs from 2018. The artists with the most songs in the chart is...
Actually a tie!
And one of them didn't even release new music this year...
The artists with the most songs in this chart are Avicii and Post Malone, with 9 songs each. Avicii, sadly, passed away this year. I was a MASSIVE fan of him since back in 2011. I spent a month listening to only Avicii after getting the news.
Surprisingly, twenty one pilots are third with 8 songs.
