Jess Glynne has officially tied the record set by Zedd’s “The Middle” for most weeks at #1 as “I’ll Be There” spends its 6th week on top. That is insane for Braintree, which has a high turnover rate due to the ever-changing tastes of its members. “One Kiss” returns to #3 after being deemed Harry Kane’s World Cup goal song for England which got plenty of plays as England trounced Panama 6-1 on Sunday. Bebe Rexha ties her highest peak at #4; she hit this peak with “Meant to Be” with Florida Georgia Line a few months ago. Emily brings some “Colour” to the top ten as MNEK and Hailee Steinfeld’s track jumps to #8. This is MNEK’s 2nd and Hailee Steinfeld’s 3rd top ten. Kiiara continues her steady ascent up the chart as she finally reaches #10 in her 6th week on the chart.
Our hot shot debut comes from Bebe Rexha, as “Self Control” comes in at #17. Her debut album, Expectations, was released this week and it appears to have plenty of bangerz as she puts up 3 singles in the top half of the chart. We mentioned one World Cup song earlier with “One Kiss,” but we also have “World in Motion” (England’s World Cup song from ’90 Italia) making big gains to #28 as well as George Ezra’s “Shotgun,” which BBC Radio 1 has turned into England’s World Cup song along with the aforementioned “One Kiss.” We see two debuts from the Bubbling Under chart as “Feels Like Home” and “I Like That” debut at #30 and #35, respectively. “Can I Get Your Number” makes a big jump since showing up on the Bubbling Under two weeks ago, thanks to Emily. The song has reached a new peak of #22.
Emm!e stuck to her usual hits of “Delicate” and “Jump” while also adding something new to the mix – Inna’s “Pentru Ca,” which debuts at #31. Daina unfortunately did not influence anything this week as she bordered between her usual fare and 80s soft rock. Celina was in a Kelly Clarkson and The Greatest Showman mood again this week, as evidenced by “Heat” and “Meaning of Life” hanging on another week and “A Million Dreams” making the Bubbling Under. She is also one of the main perpetrators of keeping Jess Glynne at #1, along with Josh and Breagh. Speaking of Breagh, she is gearing up for Canada Day this Sunday by listening to one of Canada’s best kept secrets, The Tragically Hip. Unfortunately, that also means that no one else in Braintree has heard of them, relegating them to the Bubbling Under chart this week.
Emily continues to keep “La Cintura” in the top ten as she cheers on España in the knockout stage this weekend. She also kept the Backstreet Boys on the chart as they jump back up to #21. Catie unfortunately only had one contribution yet again this week as “Ghost Town” skips back up to #34. That’s still better than Sara, who looked to have a party playlist on for her birthday party this weekend (Happy Birthday again, Sara!). None of it crossed over with her friends down south, so she spends another week outside of the chart. I will mention that Joni Mitchell’s “Blue” nearly made it on from Sara and would have if she had synced it to the week Josh discovered her. Oh well!
Next week, we see the BIG debut of Drake’s new album, Scorpion, as well as new singles from Charli XCX, Krewella, OneRepublic, and MAX. Can “I’ll Be There” take over as the longest running #1 EVER? Or will Bebe Rexha be the one to knock her out? Find out next week on the Braintree Top 40!
