Top Songs [8.24.2017]

Wow. What a week. 'A L I E N S' remains at the top spot, setting a new record for itself, as well as for Coldplay. This week marks the 4th week that 'A L I E N S' spends at the top spot. As such, it becomes the first song to spend 4 weeks at the top, thus holding the new record for most weeks at Number One, displacing 'Endorphins' ('A L I E N S' thus ends 'Endorphins' domoniation of the 5 big song records: most Total, Consecutive, Number One, Top 5, and Top 10 weeks). With 'A L I E N S', Coldplay pulls even further from Lorde for artists with the most weeks at Number One. Colplay now has 7 weeks, with Lorde in second place at 4 weeks. Sub Focus comes in third with 3 weeks. 'A L I E N S' also spends it's 7th week in the Top 10 (as well as the TOp 5, and specificall, the Top 2.). As such, it joins 'Endorphins' to hold the record for most weeks in the Top 5. It also falls into third place for most weeks in the Top 10. 'A L I E N S' notably is the first song that has been able to handle so many consecutive weeks without leaving the Top 2 (it has 7 cosecutive Top 2 weeks so far). 

'All I Can Think About Is You' remains at #2, giving Coldplay yet another week commanding the Top 2 spots. This marks the 3rd week in which the band has the Top 2 songs for the week. Only Lorde and Major Lazer have been able to have the Top 2 songs on the chart in a particular week, but each have only managed to do this for one week each. 'All I Can Think About Is You' notches it's 7th week in the Top 5, joining 'Endorphins' and 'A L I E N S' for most weeks in the Top 5. It also notches it's 8th week in the Top 10, carving oput a solo spot in the runner-up spot for most weeks in the Top 10. Only 'Endorphins' has spent more weeks in the Top 10 (9 weeks). 'All I Can Think About Is You' also spends it's 10 total and consecutive week on the chart this week. As such, it joins 'Malibu' for the runner -up position for most consecutive weeks on the chart. 'Cruise' moves one spot to #4, it's best chart showing since hitting Number One 5 months ago. It also spends it's 7th week in the Top 10. 'Drop EVerything' re-enters the Top 10, jumping 13 spots to #4, establishing a new peak position. 'Let You Go' moves 2 spots to #5, just one spot shy of it's current peak of #4. 'Miracles (Someone Special) falls one spot to #6, 'Love Me More' falls one spot also to #7. 'Flashback' takes the top debut at #8, with 'Last Friday Night' also debuting at #9. 'HUMBLE.' rounds out the Top 10, falling one spot to #10. 

'Hello' reenters the chart at #35, spending it's 14th week on the chart. As such, it now holds the runner-up spot for total weeks on the chart, second only to 'Endorphins' with an impressive 17 weeks. 'Sober' moves 4 spots to it's lowest chart showing yet (#41), but spends its 11th consecutive week on the chart. As such, it now shares the record for most consecutive weeks on the chart with 'Burning Out' and 'Endorphins', all with 11 weeks. 

Over onthe Leaderboard, 'Endorphins' remains at #1, 'A L I E N S' at #2, and 'Sober' at #3. 'All I Can Think About Is You' moves 2 spots to #4, and 'Burning Out' remains at #5. 'Green Light' leaves Top 5 to #6, leaving 'Coldplay' as the only artist with 2 songs in the op 5, which Lorde formerly held.
