Chart

James' Top 20 - April 24, 2014

Notes:

  • "Pressure" by: Youngblood Hawke rules another week at the top to make it its 3rd week at the top summit. It will have some competition next week.
  • "Rude" by: MAGIC! jumps 3-2 to obtain a new peak. It could be in contention for #1 next week.
  • Jason Derulo (feat. 2 Chainz) re-enters the top 5 going 7-5 with "Talk Dirty". Jason's latest album of the same name has really re-sparked the song, after nearly being bombarded off the chart like some songs have been having happened to them (more on that later).
  • The top debut comes from an unknown indie band, Bel Heir. Their song "Kiss the Devil", remixed by Just a Gent, flies over the on the rise chart and goes straight to #6. I discovered this band just last Saturday and have fallen in love. It debuts with 37 plays, which is extremely impressive considering I've only known it for less than a week. This could cause a bang in the chart next week and steal the #1 spot from Youngblood Hawke. I'd advise you to check them out. You can get some of their music for free on NoiseTrade by clicking here.
  • "Cry" by: The Used drops 4-10. After inflating for a few weeks following the release of Imaginary Enemy, it has finally fallen back down to earth as it goes back to where it was hanging around before it started making huge gains.
  • "On Top" by: Flume (feat. T. Shirt) and "Summer" by: Calvin Harris gain from their debuts last weeks as they go 13-12 and 16-13 respectively.
  • Jason Derulo gets another debut as "Wiggle" (feat. Snoop Dogg) debuts at #14. This could become a huge hit for Jason on my chart, so this is one to keep tabs on.
  • Fun fact: Ricky Reed has a total of 5 songs on the chart this week. He has two with his band Wallpaper. ("Hesher" & "Life of the Party") and 3 production credits for Jason Derulo ("Talk Dirty", "Wiggle", & "Side FX").
  • New Politics' "Tonight You're Perfect" tumbles 12-20 like it is currently doing on the Hot AC chart lol. A lot of songs have been free falling off the chart recently ("m.A.A.d city", "Top of the World", "Rather Be"). These are songs that are really burning quickly on me, which does not normally happen. It might just be the 2014 'fever', considering I have yet to find an album I listen to all the time. "Cry" will probably not free fall off the chart, it'll probably chill in the 9-12 region like "Riptide" by: Vance Joy has been doing for numerous weeks. A free fall is another thing to keep an eye on for some songs on the chart.
  • "Let Go" by: SafetySuit ends its historic run on my chart, dropping from the Top 20 for the first time since its debut in January 2012. It's gotten numerous amounts of saves and nearly got one this week again, but it was the odd man out with 2 debuts happening. "Never Stop" is still holding its historic run, it has not left the Top 10 since its debut during the same week "Let Go" debuted.
  • 5 Seconds of Summer are on the rise this week with "She Looks So Perfect". Even though it's the first week I've put it on there, this has really been there for 3 weeks because for whatever reason I kept forgetting to put it on the on the rise chart.
