Chart

James' Top 20 - June 26, 2014

Notes:

  • The Top 3 stays the same yet again this week with "Habits" by: Tove Lo leading the way for its 8th consecutive week on the chart. A few weeks ago, it was about to give up the throne, but now it's starting to pull away again.
  • "Rude" by: MAGIC! stays at #2 for yet another week. It is spending its 7th non-consecutive week at the #2 spot, as it has been beaten by a few different songs. Even though it hasn't hit #1, it could definitely be a top contender on my end of the year list. With Don't Kill the Magic being released next week, this could possibly move to the top come next Thursday despite "Habits" having a good lead on it.
  • "Words as Weapons" by: Seether stays at #3 for another week. This could also fall into the same boat as "Rude" with Seether's album Isolate and Medicate being released next week also. Though this has a less likely shot since I most likely won't be purchasing their album (I pre-ordered MAGIC!'s).
  • OneRepublic scores another Top 5 hit with "Love Runs Out" moving 6-4. The song has seen nice movement since its long-awaited debut. Usually the songs that take forever to chart (more on that later) tend to not have longevity on the chart (*cough* *cough* "Summer" *cough* *cough*). "Peace" by: O.A.R. (13-15) looks like it could be getting that treatment.
  • Andrew Ripp breaks into the Top 10 with "Falling for the Beat" rising 11-7. This could have a shot at moving into the Top 5 next week.
  • As predicted, "Wiggle" by: Jason Derulo (feat. Snoop Dogg) takes a tumble going 5-10 this week. The song has been burning on me quickly and it may see the end of its run way sooner than expected. It might take another tumble next week, but it will likely stay below the Top 10 for a few weeks.
  • "Come With Me Now" by: KONGOS finally debuts on the chart at #14 after spending a whopping total of 11 weeks on the On the Rise chart. This is likely the longest run for a song on that chart. There is a shot this song can be short-lived like many others that spend a long time on the On the Rise chart, but the song has made some impressive gains the past few weeks, so it could likely have a run like "Love Runs Out".
  • "Classic" by: MKTO is another song that finally makes its debut on the chart. It made its debut on the On the Rise chart a year ago when it was released and was on there a few other times throughout 2013, but never debuted. This song probably should have debuted last year, it's just one of those songs that I tend to forget ("La La La", "The Man", "Latch", "Timber" and numerous others). Since it's nearing the end of its run on CHR, this could be a short-lived song also, but better late than never right? This is MKTO's second song to chart following "Thank You" from last year, which hit #8. "Goodbye Song" could be their third charted song as it has been on the rise quite a few times, and if it gets a single release, it could explode. Though it could debut without one.
  • Rixton falls 15-20 this week with "Me and My Broken Heart". This song has also really burned on me and could see the end of its run next week with the #21 & #22 songs knocking on the Top 20's door.
  • "Resonance" by: Luvbug (feat. Talay Riley) falls off the chart from #19 after having a pretty underwhelming run, only peaking at #16. Talay Riley charts some big ones pretty often, but this wasn't one of them. Though it falls this week, this song will more than likely make a return in the very near future for a better second run.
  • SafetySuit exits the chart also with "On Your Side" falling from the #20 spot. The song led the chart for 2 weeks not too long ago. Like "Rude", this had a very long run at the #2 spot, constantly being blocked off by OneRepublic's "Counting Stars". This also marks the first time that only one SafetySuit song is on the chart since January of 2012. If "Never Stop" ever leaves, it will be the first time since I learned about SafetySuit (January 2012) that there will be NO SafetySuit song on the chart. Considering they haven't tweeted since January, I'm a little scared for them. They tweeted they had big news coming 'soon' about their album and tour, but they have not tweeted since...
