Chart

James' Top 40 - April 15, 2015

New #1!

Notes:

  • #TheReturn - "A Taste of Silver" climbs its way back to the summit this week, going 3-1 for a 6th week atop the chart. It looked to be done a few weeks ago, but it got a revival and looks to be in full speed again. Some of the thanks can go to MLB 15: The Show, as it is featured on the soundtrack, it got its momentum back because of it. This could stay atop for a little while longer, but some are looking to return to the top. The #1 spot shouldn't have a newcomer for a little while longer. Two new songs are making big strides for it.
  • "First" climbs 10-7 this week for new peak. Cold War Kids are looking at another hit from Hold My Home. "Go Quietly" looks like it'll be gone next week, as it slides 31-40, just barely holding on and edging out a spot at the last second. "All This Could Be Yours" falls from #37 this week, ending a great run on the chart. It peaked at #2, nearly getting #1 multiple times, and had a fast rise to the Top 10 and stayed for awhile. It started to falter a bit at the end, as a lot of songs have been doing since the expansion, but it still did great. Look out for this on my year-end award show, where it could pick up a Song of the Year nomination.
  • AWOLNATION climbs into the the Top 10 with "Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)" going 12-10. This looked good upon its debut, and had the momentum for #1, but one bad week tarnished its whole chances. This'll look to climb a bit higher, but not too much. Top 5 will be a hard feat. Their next single, "I Am", should be able to see some success, as it charted on On the Rise upon the album release. The real wait is for "Woman Woman" though, which could be big on here for them.
  • "The Glow" is Big Data's only positive update this week, as it climbs 16-12 for a new peak. It is holding up nicely compared to the rest of the album. "Clean" shouldn't go much further, and "The Business of Emotion" should stick into the Top 10 for a little while, before starting a fall. "The Glow" though could have a great album track run, and more than "Clean", as that one looked to be the big album track.
  • Two songs have huge gains this week, both nearly beating the record for biggest climb. "Dancing On Quicksand" zooms 33-15 (18 positions) with an outstanding +19 play increase. It was trucking along at the beginning of the week, gaining most from the first half, but still held up nicely in the second half of the charting week. The other big gainer comes from Saint Motel's "My Type", soaring 38-19 (19 positions) with a huge +23 play increase. This one is looking to be huge as well, and both of these are looking at the Top 10 next week, with both being possible additions. These both just missed "The Glow"'s 20 position jump for the record on the chart.
  • There are a few other Top 20 peaks: "Contagious", "Heavy Is the Head", and "Desire", going 17-16, 20-17, and 22-20 respectively. "Contagious" looks to be done fairly soon, but should be able to stick in the Top 20 for the time being, while the latter two still have a lot of life left to go.
  • CRUISR jumps 28-24 with "All Over" for a new peak. This'll look at the Top 20 in a few weeks time, as it should be able to get there, but not right away.
  • Last week's three debuts climb this week. "Open Wide" goes 35-31, "Dead Inside" goes 39-33, and "Can't Deny My Love" moves 40-39. Both "Open Wide" and "Dead Inside" will seek the Top 30 next week, while "Can't Deny My Love" will look to just hold on. There's a for sure debut next week, but it's unknown if there will be more. "Can't Deny My Love" will look to have a random big week, or just simply have some luck to climb. Right now, things are looking a bit dim.
  • Sam Hunt debuts two tracks this week: "Take Your Time" comes in at #32 and "Single for the Summer" comes in at #36. "Take Your Time" is looking to be a decent hit here, so far looking like a Top 20 player, but could go higher. "Single for the Summer" could also do well, but it won't be a huge album track, but should still perform nicely. Both will look forward to the Top 30 next week. "Ex To See" and "Raised On It" appear on On the Rise.
  • Alesso takes the final debut this week with "Cool" at #37. It started off hot in its first week, but cooled off considerably in the midst of its second. It'll look to keep climbing, but things are a little shaky at the moment.
  • Well this is a record you don't want: "Can't Trust Thots" takes the biggest drop in chart history, falling 23-38 (15 positions), and also nearly fell off the chart. Next week this'll be a likely goner (could hold on at #40).
