Chart

James' Top 40 - August 5, 2015

Notes:

  • Dirty Heads hold the top position for a second week with "End of the World". It was expected to put up another big number and put some distance between the #1 and the rest of the chart, but it had a pretty dismal week. This should still hold on for awhile, but it definitely doesn't have as much security as it seemed like it would.
  • Shinedown cut into the Top 10 with "Cut the Cord" going 15-9. This one is still hot, and it might be able to reach Top 5 next week. The Top 10 is pretty tightly knit together, but it should be easy to move up next week for some songs.
  • "Can't Feel My Face" comes into the Top 20, going 22-18 for a new peak. This one has been gaining steadily, but things are starting to look bleak. It has definitely slowed down since the week this and "The Hills" were dominating, but this has been able to continue to climb. "The Hills" has been stuck in the same two spots since debuting, as its run is 28-29-29-28. If it could hold up long enough, this might be able to breakout when Beauty Behind the Madness drops at the latest.
  • USS make their chart debut this week with "Nepal". I was getting real into their EP, Advanced Basics, as 5 of the 7 songs chart this week. "Nepal" takes a huge debut at #26, and this could be big. This has had some big replay value for me and it shouldn't slow down. The other songs might not debut, but "Yin Yang" could see some action since that is the song they will be releasing in the US.
  • As "Beyond Me" (31-34) continues to slip down the chart, tobyMac is able to debut another one with "Feel It" at #30. This has the potential to be huge and easily become Toby's biggest hit on my chart. It is funky and infectious. I could actually see some CHR success if they pushed it (though Christian songs have a tough time getting pushed). This should see some big gains these next few weeks. The prediction is looking like a Top 5 placement in the end.
  • "Worry Bout It" takes a 40-36 climb this week for a new peak. It was looking like it'll either be a one-weeker, or climb a bit, and it chose the latter. This might be able to become a moderate hit, but it looks nothing bigger than maybe a late 20s peak.
  • Maroon 5 takes the final debut, and it's not their current single? "Coming Back For You" debuts at #37 this week. I'm thinking that this and "Feelings" (On the Rise) will both be able to climb the charts together. Considering they missed the chart with their last two ("Sugar" and "This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like A Motherf*cker), they could use an extra song to chart. "Coming Back For You" should have the advantage and end up having a better peak of the two. "Feelings" should find its way onto the chart sometime, but it doesn't look like it'll immediately come in.
