Chart

James' Top 40 - June 10, 2015

Notes:

  • "My Type" holds on for its second week atop the chart, but things are a little shaky. It's pretty much anyone's game right now, and now that "Crave" (9-7) seems to have fallen to earth, many different songs have a chance to stay on the top. "A Taste of Silver" (#2) or "Halo" (5-4) are looking for the top next week.
  • Until the Ribbon Breaks now holds 3 songs in the Top 10 with "Pressure" jumping 14-10 for a new peak. It got a lucky break with 2 songs not moving any plays and "Heavy Is the Head" starting to start its potential purge. "Perspective" (7-9) seems to have lost its momentum, so "Pressure" will look to fill the void. "Perspective" has a high chance to rebound though.
  • "Cheyenne" rises 27-19 for a new peak. The track has been red hot the past two weeks and is looking for more. Next week could see another huge gain and if things stay at least somewhat positive for the next few weeks, Jason Derulo could be looking at his first career #1. Jason also sees On the Rise appearances with "Pull Up" and "Get Ugly".
  • The two lone country songs on the chart are having confusing runs. "Take Your Time" (31-29) was moving down the past few weeks, but it looks like things are getting brighter for it with a +3 play increase. Next week could be an indicator of its future. "Loving You Easy" (29-32) is starting to fall a bit, but is seemingly far from over. Both songs have seen fairly similar runs thus far, but "Take Your Time" has more potential than "Loving You Easy" does.
  • Acceptance makes their chart debut with their comeback single "Take You Away" at #35. The song has been a steady gainer these past weeks and was able to debut this week. Though this is their first song to chart, their song "In Too Far" could have been a #1 if there was a chart when it was released (2006). These guys broke up nearly 10 years ago, so they have been missed. If they had stayed together, they could have been a big artist on this chart.
  • MKTO finds their third chart entry on the chart with "Bad Girls" coming in at #36. This follows "Thank You" (#8) and "Classic" (#12) from their last album, but this one looks to be much bigger than both. "Classic" peaked fairly lowly last year considering I debuted it much later than I should have. "Thank You" just kinda fizzled a short time after its debut. This one, in my opinion, is miles better than both of those and I have been obsessed with it. This one has a very promising future ahead of it.
  • The third and final debut goes to Bad Suns, as they get their third charter as well with "We Move Like the Ocean" at #40. They finally announced their actual third single after a lot of guessing, and this is the one they chose. This has a huge summer vibe and could explode on here in the future.
  • "The Business of Emotion" finally gets put out of its misery as it falls off the chart from #37 after much major droppage. After falling from the top spot for its second run, it was out of control and was on a downward spiral. It led for 4 nonconsecutive weeks.
  • On the Rise is poppin' this week as it sees a record breaking 21 songs on it. The big number has some credit due to twenty one pilots (5), Jason Derulo (2), and Young Guns (2) having albums released these past few weeks, but more than half is for others. Next week could see a potential huge week, but with only one certain dropper, it's going to be a battle royale.
