James' Top 40 - November 4, 2015

New #1!

Notes:

  • For the first time since August 19th, an actually new song hits the top (and coincidentally it was SafetySuit's "Heart Attack") as "Looking Up" goes to the top from #7 for the band's 4th career #1. This easily had the best momentum of the Top 10 and it carried it to the vulnerable top position, as "A Taste of Silver" (1-2) probably has seen its last week at #1, which stops at 15 total weeks. For the moment, this isn't totally safe and it looks like there is going to be a battle royale for the #1 spot over the next few weeks. "Ain't No Stopping" (5-4), "Seeing Red" (8-5), and "Revolution Indifference" (11-9) are all looking for turns on top.
  • Andrew Watt pushes into the Top 5 with "Seeing Red" moving up 8-5 this week for a new peak. It has only taken 4 weeks for it to go into the Top 5, and it might have a pretty short week total before it gets to #1. This has the best shot (after "Looking Up" obvi) to hit the top spot next week, so that means this should be Top 3 next week, potentially #2 depending if "A Taste of Silver" comes down a bit more.
  • "Revolution Indifference" moves into the Top 10, going 11-9 for a new peak. This is Until the Ribbon Breaks' fifth Top 10 of the year (and overall) and this should be another big song for the band. This has a shot at going #1, but the chances are much slimmer right now. This'll probably start to slow down a bit, but this should have some legs on it.
  • After having a major down week last week, "Could Have Been Me" picks back up 18-16. This one isn't over, but last week really hurt its chances of ever going Top 10. It could end up repeaking, but Top 10 seems out of reach now.
  • Three songs enter the Top 20, as "Moments" (21-18), "Oh My Heart" (22-19), and "Run Away With Me" (23-20) all gain new peaks. All three look like potential Top 10 hits, but the latter two might end up having a peak below the Top 10, but there's still room to grow.
  • "Unsteady" debuts this week, as it comes in at #37. This took awhile to get onto the chart, 6 weeks, but it finally arrives. This should definitely be a slow gainer on the chart and it has the potential to go Top 20. This is their second chart entry, as "Gorgeous" peaked at #31 (though it could rechart if it gets a single release). "Jungle" and "Renegades" both appeared on On the Rise, but weren't able to chart.
  • Agent Fresco make their chart debut this week, as "Howls" comes in at #40 this week. This has a shot at being a Top 30 hit with room to grow. Since they don't release singles in the US, this might get the attention over "Wait For Me" (currently On the Rise), which I might chart after this finishes. Though, both could chart at the same time.
