the cm70 - December 16, 2015

New #1!

Notes:

  • Andrew Watt finally takes the top spot, as "Seeing Red" moves into the throne from #2. It spent 5 weeks at #2, once behind "Looking Up" (3-2) and four times behind "The Feeling" (1-3). Next week it should be a battle between this and "Looking Up" for the #1, and it should stay that way for a few weeks until new challengers start to come in.
  • While Andrew Watt holds the top, he also enters the Top 10 with "Ghost In My Head" as that jumps 12-8. It had a really solid week this week and is looking at a potential Top 5 placement next week. This has a good shot at #1 in its future, and Andrew might be able to replace himself if he can hold "Seeing Red" there for a few weeks.
  • "Junkyard" takes another big climb this week, going 19-12 for a new peak. This should go Top 10 next week, and this actually has increased its ceiling to a potential #1. I have been getting very into this as of late, and this has a very good shot of at least besting "Heavy Is the Head"'s #3 peak. Zac Brown Band are also looking at a potential Artist of the Year nominee at my awards for the year (which should be announced soon!).
  • Shaman's Harvest climb into the Top 30 with "In Chains" going 36-30 for a new peak. This should have a very solid outlook entering into the new year, and this does have a shot at #1 in the future. This'll probably keep up the +5 climbs for a few more weeks.
  • "Beautiful Drug" re-enters the Top 40 for a third time, as it goes 43-36 this week. It looks like this one has fully awaken and will look to start doing some damage. There's no doubt this should best its #31 peak next week or the week after, but after that is the big test. It looks like this should easily secure a Top 20 peak, but this one has been so up and down it's hard to say. This has a very high ceiling, so things will be interesting for this one.
  • "101" climbs into the Top 40 as well, as it blasts 47-39 for a new peak. It seems that when I'm at home, this one does much better; this had a big week when I came back for Thanksgiving week, but then settled down until this week. This sounds really good in my car, so as long as I'm playing it there, it will keep climbing. Both this and "1 AM" sound great, but this one might actually end up having the higher peak, which both should get around the mid-20s with room to grow.
  • Until the Ribbon Breaks hop into the Top 50 with "Goldfish" climbing 52-47 for a new peak. This one is starting to heat up and could actually get around to where their other hits have gotten (Top 10), but unlike the others, this should take its time getting there. It obviously has more positions to climb, but also it doesn't seem like this will be a major climber. This might end up being the last single I chart for the era (which has been outstanding), as UTRB have closed the era themselves and are moving onto a new album. That should be another big one for them.
  • "The Driver" drives into the Top 50 as well, as it goes 58-50 for a new peak. This one has been starting to come alive in the past few weeks and is looking for some more. This is looking at a Top 30 peak at the moment, but there's plenty of room to grow.
  • Flo Rida blasts into the Top 60 this week, as "Dirty Mind" climbs 10 positions, going 66-56, for a new peak. This has a shot a big song for Flo Rida. He's charted quite a few songs, but none have surpassed the #6 peak of "Good Feeling".
  • "One Love" and "Another Lonely Night" both jump into the Top 60, moving 61-59 and 62-60 respectively.
  • "Get Ugly" debuts at #66 this week. It has a shot at being a Top 10 for Jason. This is his second charter for the Everything Is 4 era; "Cheyenne" peaked at #5, while both "Want to Want Me", "Try Me", and "Pull Up" (latter two weren't singles) hit On the Rise. "Genghis Khan" has work to do; it should probably spend most of its days in the bottom fourth of the chart.
  • The final debut goes to Miike Snow with "Genghis Khan" at #69. This is Miike Snow's first charter, but one the members of the band were in Galantis, which had "Runaway (U & I)" hit On the Rise (probably should have debuted). This one has some work to do though. It should likely see most of its time done in the bottom fourth of the chart.
