Joseph's Hit 40

Up a huge 37 places this week to the top spot is a collaboration between three dance music heavyweights, coming together for the fantastic Shed a Light. Robin Schulz & David Guetta are the lead artists on the track, and both get their first EVER #1s each, and it features Cheat Codes, who claim their second #1 (third for member Trevor Dahl, who is on vocal duty once again on this track). Robin Schulz's previous peak was #17 for Francesco Yates collaboration Sugar at the end of 2015, meaning this is also his first top 10 hit. This is only his third chart hit so far, discounting Prayer In C which I listed as the worldwide credit of Lilly Wood & The Prick, with Schulz listed as the remixer. David Guetta on the other hand has had numerous chart hits since my chart began at the end of 2011, with his highest peaking being last year's Hey Mama, which got to #3. Cheat Codes previously scored a #1 just two months ago with Let Me Hold You (Turn Me On), and this is only their second chart hit to date.

This week's higheat new entry comes from Tom Odell, who scores yet another top 10 hit with new single Silhouette. It is the fourth single from his second album Wrong Crowd, but his fifth top 10 hit, including the title track which served as a promotional single. It outpeaks previous singles Concrete and Here I Am instantly but doesn't match the #1 peak of Magnetised yet. Silhouette also features on Tom's upcoming Christmas EP, entitled Spending All My Christmas With You, due out next Friday. The EP also includes previous hit Real Love, which was not featured on Wrong Crowd.

Just below Tom is another new entry, from Daniel Skye. No Party is Daniel's fourth top 10 hit out of four so far, and it matches his personal best of #5 set by second hit Smile. It goes one better than Good As It Gets, his last release, which peaked at #6 in its second week. Daniel is one of the few artists in my chart history to have a 100% top 10 hit rate, with no tracks peaking between #11-40 so far - in fact, he has matched the record for most top 10 hits without a single #11-40 hit, with only four. He ties Rixton, who achieved four consecutive top 10 hits and nothing else between 2014 and 2015. Remember though, many of my most successful artists have charted with album tracks! If we only count official singles, the result would certainly be different.

Also this week, George Shelley scores his second top 10 hit in as many weeks, as new track Soldier goes straight in at #7, a new personal best for him as a soloist. Also achieving new personal bests this week are Remy Ma, Rag'n'Bone Man and Lost Kings. All three of those artists are experiencing their first hits, although Rag'n'Bone Man's Human is a re-entry after charting at #39 two weeks ago and dropping out.

As December arrives, so does Mariah! All I Want For Christmas Is You arrives back for a fourth consecutive year, looking towards nabbing a fourth Christmas in the top 10 and yet another new peak. Will she achieve it? Will it finally hit the top spot? We'll find out in the coming weeks...
