On Sunday night, a benefit concert was held in Manchester following the terrorist attack at the MEN Arena just weeks ago. One Love Manchester was headed by Ariana Grande, the artist playing at the arena on the night of the attack. It was a fantastic night of music, to remember the lives lost as well as show defiance against terrorists, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Ariana was an absolute star, and as a result, her 2014 single One Last Time, re-released for charity last week, jumps to a brand new peak of #1 in my chart. Previously it had peaked at #10 only two weeks ago, and it becomes Ariana's fifth top 10 hit following Problem, Break Free, Bang Bang and Side to Side.
The highest new entry this week comes from American singer/songwriter Julia Michaels. Uh Huh is Julia's second hit, the first being Issues earlier this year which peaked at #15. Uh Huh instantly outpeaks that, debuting at #3. As a songwriter, she has two #1s in my chart - Justin Bieber's Sorry in 2015, and Fifth Harmony's All In My Head (Flex) in 2016.
Also new in this week's top 10 is Jasmine Thompson's Old Friends. It's Jasmine's fourth top 10 hit, and the first since Rise Up last year, a collaboration with Thomas Jack. Out of her four top 10 hits, two are as a lead artist, and she matches the #6 peak of Adore from 2015, her highest peaking song. The version of Old Friends that I've charted is specifically the Jonas Blue remix. Whilst this doesn't give Jonas Blue a proper credit, it's technically his third top 10 following #10 hit Fast Car and his biggest hit to date, #5 hit Mama (back up 1 place to #11 this week).
Fifth Harmony made their return this week, releasing their first single as a four-piece, Down. The title is unfortunately apt for the group, who score their second lowest peaking track to date, ending a run of six consecutive top 10 hits including three #1s (BO$$, Work from Home, Flex). Only their debut single, #16 hit Miss Movin' On, peaked lower than Down's current #15 position. There's a possibility that it may change all this of course and climb into the top 10 at a later date. Interestingly though, they fail to get past former bandmate Camila Cabello's solo hit Crying in the Club, which spends a third week in the top 10, down 3 to #9.
The highest climber this week comes from Niall Horan, who soars up 16 places with Slow Hands to a new peak of #12 following his One Love Manchester performance. Slow Hands is in prime position to become his second top 10 hit next week, following #5 hit This Town, as is Miley Cyrus' Malibu which jumps 10 places to #20 this week after peaking at #14 in week 1.
Manel Navarro leaves the chart with Eurovision track Do It for Your Lover, but as one door closes, another opens and Manel debuts at #14 with Keep on Falling, his third hit. We see chart debuts from Swae Lee (alongside French Montana on Unforgettable at #28), Anton (Ewald, of Melodifestivalen fame, not to be confused with fellow MFest contestant Anton Hagman who's at #8 this week) and X Factor group 5 After Midnight.
