Chart

Joseph's Hit 40

While there is no change at #1, the rest of the top 3 is fresh this week as Ulrik Munther and Kesha make way for two new tracks. Up 10 places to #2 is British singer KStewart, with her song Hands. It's her third chart hit, following Oliver Heldens collaboration Last All Night (Koala), which made #7, and solo track Keeping You Up, which made #14. This makes Hands her highest peaking song to date, likewise for featured artist Yungen, who has yet to chart with anything else.

He made his very first chart appearance earlier this year, and now X Factor Australia winner Isaiah Firebrace, known simply as Isaiah, scores his third chart hit. Each single has charted higher than the last - It's Gotta Be You peaked at #25 on its second week in the chart, while second single and Australian Eurovision entry Don't Come Easy debuted and peaked at #10. Follow-up single Streets of Gold gives Isaiah his best performance to date, entering at #3.

The highest climber this week comes from British singer/songwriter Charli XCX, who scores her seventh top 10 hit with Boys as it zooms 20 places to #9. Boys follows the #5 hit After the Afterparty from the end of 2016, although previously she has achieved two #1s. Charli first saw the summit as a featured artist on Iggy Azalea's Fancy, my end of year #1 for 2014. She then topped the chart as a lead artist in 2015 alongside Rita Ora on Doing It.

Louis Tomlinson holds at #1 for a second week, becoming only the sixth song this year to spend more than a single week at the top. The most weeks spent at #1 in 2017 by a single song is still three, set by Louis' bandmate Harry Styles with his debut single Sign of the Times. Multiple weeks at #1 were achieved by the following songs in 2017:

21/01/2017 - Daniel Skye - ON (2 weeks)
04/02/2017 - Martin Garrix & Dua Lipa - Scared to Be Lonely (2 weeks)
25/02/2017 - FO&O - Gotta Thing About You (2 weeks)
08/04/2017 - Harry Styles - Sign of the Times (3 weeks)
10/06/2017 - Ariana Grande - One Last Time (2 weeks)
29/07/2017 - Louis Tomlinson feat. Bebe Rexha & Digital Farm Animals - Back to You (? weeks)

Elsewhere in the top 40, new personal bests are achieved by INDIIA and Whitney Phillips, who both climb into the top 20 on their hit Out of Love. There are chart debuts for Declan McKenna and Naika. On the topic of Declan McKenna, he climbs one place to #1 in this week's album chart, dethroning The Vamps after three weeks. Lana Del Rey is new at #3 with Lust For Life, her highest peaking album to date (although I prefer Born to Die), while Julia Michaels is new at #4 with her EP/mini album Nervous System.
