Tate McRae’s “Greedy” continues its successful run at Number 1, entering a sixth consecutive week at the top of the charts. It’s now become the longest-running Number 1 of the year so far – a feat previously shared between Miley Cyrus her “Flowers”, Goldband their “Rommel” and Peggy Gou’s “It Goes Like (Nanana)”, which all spent five weeks leading the list. Tate McRae her chart performance is boosted by TikTok virality and massive streaming figures. It stands as one of my most streamed singles of the year so far. Its reign, however, is threatened by South-African pop diva Tyla who moves to #2 with “Water”, earning the highest-charting Afrobeats-infused single of the year so far.
2022 was the breakthrough year of Dutch-Moluccan newcomer Zoë Tauran. Her streaming hits “Solo” and “Gebruik Me” topped the national Spotify charts, while her collaboration “Adrenaline” with Kris Kross Amsterdam became her first Top 10-hit. Success continued this year with back-to-back Top 20-entries and her eponymous debut album. This week, she earns her biggest opening week to date with the release of “Monster”, a brand new song she heavily promoted on TikTok. It debuts at #4 on this week’s list, the highest new entry of the week and Zoë Tauran her highest-peaking single to date. It is supported by huge streaming figures and contends for next week’s Number 1.
Taylor Swift re-recording her albums has become nothing short of a cultural phenomenon. Following the dispute with Scooter Braun and the decision to revisit her albums so she can own the masters, Swift has spoiled fans with the acclaimed “Taylor’s Versions” and its previously unreleased cuts to massive success. This week, she re-released 1989 (Taylor’s Version), the re-recording of her 2014 album that helped Swift solidify her position as an undeniable pop star across the globe. It spawned four back-to-back Number 1s on my list – “Blank Space”, “Style”, “Bad Blood” with Kendrick Lamar and “Wildest Dreams”. New on the re-recording is “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version)”, which debuts at #6. It marks Swift her thirteenth Top 10-hit on this list. It is the second “Taylor’s Version” single to chart following “All Too Well” from Red.
Further down, Froukje scores one of her biggest debuts so far with “Houden Van Mij” at #15 this week. It is the first single for her recently announced upcoming debut album Noodzakelijk Verdriet, set to be released next year. Froukje has already performed the single numerous times during her concert tours and festival appearances. “Houden Van Mij” is the newest addition to Froukje her steady streak of hits. This year, she reached a career high with “Als Ik God Was” its peak at #2, while “Zonder Gezicht” with S10 re-entered the charts again and became her best-scoring single to date. “Houden Van Mij” becomes Froukje her tenth landmark Top 40-hit.
Trobi debuts at #24 with “Wacht Op Mij”, an immediately recognizable dance-hip hop song featuring Ronnie Flex and Tabitha. They previously worked together on “Is Dit Over” [#2] and “Zeldzaam” [#15]. It has been some time since we’ve seen Tabitha on my personal chart – her last chart entry dates back to 2021’s “Heel Veel Meer”, her lowest peak to date. Rounding out the fresh debuts is Olivia Dean at #39 with “Dive”. The soul-pop singer has worked with Rudimental and covered Nat King Cole's "The Christmas Song" for Amazon in 2021 to commercial success. She’s also has established a dedicated fan base, which became apparent when she performed “Dive” in the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. It marks her first Top 40-entry on my list.
