Janet Jackson secures second week at Number 1

Janet Jackson and Robbie Williams battle it out for this week’s Number 1. Both songs are aided by crazy international success, as the two hits are becoming massive sellers in no time. Janet Jackson her Together Again is the strongest contender this week, celebrating a second week at the top spot. Robbie Williams is on the verge of dethroning her though. If Robbie Williams his Angels were to secure the Number 1-position next week, it would be his second single to top the charts. He previously spent one week at Number 1 with Freedom in 1996. Next week promises to be a close call for the race to the top.

The Verve climbs into the Top 10 with Lucky Man. This is the British group’s third time they managed to enter the Top 10. The Verve scored their first hit with Bitter Sweet Symphony in 1997. The single became an enormous international success, topping the charts in multiple nations. On this list, the ballad peaked at Number 2 and received a Platinum Certification with over 65,000 points. More success followed, including a Top 10-hit with The Drugs Don’t Work and a million-selling album with “Urban Hymns”. The Verve now secure Number 10 with Lucky Man.

Robyn scores the highest debut of the week. Robyn is a Swedish singer who is on her way to dominate the charts. Robyn started her career at age fifteen with Do You Really Want Me, which led to success in Sweden. Slowly, her music spread throughout Europe, resulting in numerous charting singles. Her proper breakthrough is yet to come, but is close, as her newest single Show Me Love is becoming an international success. The song is climbing the lists in the United Kingdom and entering in the United States. On this list, Show Me Love debuts at Number 16 this week. Her newest effort already surpasses her previous highest-peaking single Do You Know, which only peaked at Number 34 in August last year.

All Saints may have missed the Number 1-position to the Spice Girls’ success, All Saints their hit single Never Ever is nonetheless a phenomenal seller. As of this week, the single celebrates a Platinum Status. The single has secured 65,000 points. Their additional album “All Saints” is a true hit as well.

Eternal celebrate a Gold Certification this week for Angel of Mine. The single became a sleeper hit, slowly climbing the charts until reaching a peak at Number 6. As of this week, the song has amassed over 40,000 points. Their biggest-scoring single to date is their Number 1 I Wanna Be The Only One with over 65,000 points.
