Robbie Williams climbs to Number 1 with Millennium, the lead single from his new upcoming album “I’ve Been Expecting You”. The single is his third chart-topper on this list, following his first with Freedom in 1995 and Let Me Entertain You earlier this year. Both singles only spent one week above the list. Robbie Williams his newest hit fights off competition from the Spice Girls, whom spent seven weeks crowning the list with Viva Forever. Robbie Williams takes the lead with ease, although competition is close from B*Witched with C’est La Vie.
Faithless step into the Top 10 with God Is a DJ. Faithless is a British electronica band consisting of Maxi Jazz, Sister Bliss and Rollo. The group are currently promoting their upcoming second album “Sunday 8PM”, following the success of their debut album “Reverence”. That first album spawned the hit single Insomnia, which was a minor success on this list. The group now returns with God Is a DJ as the lead single of the new album. The song is already a big success in the Netherlands and in the United Kingdom, while it peaks at Number 8 on this list.
Sheryl Crow scores the highest debut of the week. Sheryl Crow entered the charts before with minor hits. She debuted with All I Wanna Do, which became a solid hit and peaked at Number 12. Some other entries followed, with most aided by the success of Sheryl Crow her eponymous album. She then scored her first Top 10-hit with Tomorrow Never Dies, the main theme of the James Bond-film of the same name. That song became her biggest hit to date, amassing over 40,000 points. Sheryl Crow returns with My Favorite Mistake, the lead single of her third new album “The Globe Sessions”. The single debuts at Number 21 this week. One of her other hits, If It Makes You Happy, re-enters at Number 36.
Mousse T, Hot 'N' Juicy and Inaya Day receive a Gold Certification for Horny ’98. The song is a highly successful hit, mostly thanks to its use on the South Park-soundtrack. Its funky beat and dance influence made sure the single climbed the charts worldwide. The song reached a peak at Number 2 in the United Kingdom, whilst reaching the Top 20 in other European nations. On this list, the single peaked at Number 4 and became Mousse T. his breakthrough. As of this week, the song has amassed over 40,000 points.
