The Biggest Songs Of The Week!

TOP 10 ALBUMS of the week

1. Dermot Kennedy - Without fear (up 2)

2. Jojo – Good to know (down 1)

3. The Weeknd – After Hours (down 1)

4. Charli XCX – How I’m feeling now (new entry)

5. Dua Lipa – Future Nostalgia (non mover)

6. Sam Fender - Hypersonic Missiles (non mover)

7. Taylor Swift – Lover (re-entry)

8. Gerry Cinnamon – The Bonny (down 4)

9. Gabrielle Aplin - Dear Happy (down 2)

10. Future – High off life (new entry)

Congratulations to Katy Perry who I was not expecting to go straight to number 1 with the catchy “Daisies”. She last had a number 1 on my chart last year with “Never really over”. Katy manages to dethrone Ariana and Justin from the number 1 spot. That makes it 7 consecutive weeks for a new number 1 each week. Quite a big change from the start of the year when “Blinding lights” kept staying at number 1!

Bubbling under the chart:

Powfu – Death Bed

Nerina Pallot – Love will tear us apart

Taylor Swift – Cornelia Street

Potential new entries next week include:

Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande – Rain on me (The biggest contender for number 1 next week will have to be this huge duet. Both have already had number 1’s this year on my chart. Both have had number 1’s as part of different double acts in the past. The only question is whether the song is catchy, will have to wait until Friday 22nd May)

Foxes – Love not loving you (Foxes returns after a 4 year break! She had a massive number 1 on my chart with Bodytalk in 2015 and who can remember the brilliant “Youth” from 2013? – I’m hoping big things for her new album)

Ellie Goulding – Power (Ellie releases yet another single. She last went to number 1 on my chart with “Sixteen” in 2019. Always a contender for number 1 and may give Lady Gaga/Ariana and Foxes some stiff competition)

Sia – Together (I feel that none of her new songs have the same platform as they did a few years back. Sia has already spent two weeks in my top 20 with “Saved my life”. Could she have another hit?)

Also: The Weeknd –“In your eyes” may climb considering the new remix with Doja Cat has been released. One Republic have also released a different version of Better Days which may re-enter?

On the album front, The 1975 release “Notes on a Conditional form”. They have had a number 1 album on my chart for every album. I prefer their album from 2016 to their recent stuff but still expecting it to do well. May even see the odd album track charting?

Carly Rae Jepsen also releases a companion album to her 2019 album dedicated, with “Dedicated Side B”. It could also do well on the album chart, but will have to check out the album tracks!

Other releases:

Kygo & Valerie Broussard

Hey Zack! I especially love your chart this week, given it has so many good new-entries! In my opinion, though, Daisies was not that good, whereas the new Charli album, was very very good! Probably "Lose Somebody" is my favorite new entry this week! Can't wait for next week with so many good new songs wanting to break into your chart...

Hey! I respect your opinion, i just found the song "Daisies" catchy and uplifting. Not sure if it will have strong longevity in the top 10, but also felt good to listen to it in the sunshine! I do like "Enemy" from Charli XCX. Great 80s vibe again going on. "Lose Somebody" was very likley to chart high given that Kygo makes great tunes and OneRepublic are a great band.

Very interesting to see Katy Perry debut atop not suprised though! !
I'm happy to see Lose Somebody straight into the top 10!
As well as other new entries
"This City "& "Rockstar " the latter finally though it took a while !And suprisingly I Want to See The Bright Lights Tonight Mark Ronson it's very chilled EDM not noisy but soft .it's suprising that Mark Ronson had Uptown Funk as the his biggest hit today even though Nothing Breaks Like A Heart did well he's one of my favourite artist that new singleit's bubbling Under on my chart!
I'm seeing huge contenders to debut next week it's very interesting that this week there were a lot cool new songs!
Interesting "Physical "
still enduring in the top 10 which is your favourite track from Future Nostalgia album? ?
Great chart as usual looking forward to next week

Yep, Rockstar does have a nice backing tune that makes you get into it, and it will definitely climb for next weeks chart. Yeah Mark Ronsons makes good tunes, it appears that they only become hits if they are a well known artist like Bruno/Miley. But his current song is really great. Everyone is going down the 80s route at the moment and i like the genre of music, very nostalgic as I love 80s movies. And yes you noticed that Physical and Blinding Lights are staying in the top 10, again...the 80s influence is the key, banging tunes with staying power! Physical is defo the best song on her album for me by a clear clear mile, even though others disagree. However, with so many new songs out this week, both singles could drop out of the top 10 for the first time.

Hi Zack!
Nice to see "Daisies" debut straight to #1, as well as the debut for "Lose Somebody" in the top 5 and the other debuts for "ROCKSTAR", "Guys" and "Daylight"!
Great chart!

Hey Zack! :)
I don't mind 'Daisies' debuting at #1, but I love the new entries for: 'Lose Somebody', 'Rockstar', 'This City', 'Guys' & especially 'Daylight' lower down.
It's also cool that 'Without Fear' retakes the top spot on the albums chart!
I'm excited to see that: 'Death Bed', 'Cornelia Street', 'Rain', 'In Your Eyes' & 'Guys' may enter the chart next week, as well as 'Notes On A Conditional Form' contending for the #1 album of the week.
Good chart once again!

You are right, the "This City" remix sounds great for the summer. "Daylight" entered the chart after Taylors live Paris album release. So many songs from her album are great for singles, Daylight seemed a good choice for me. Dermot Kennedy and Sam Fender have pretty much remained in the top 10 album chart since January (for me), I only really listened to both albums in Janurary rather than last year and didnt realise what i was missing! Death Bed and Cornelia Street may struggle to enter due to possible album track entries from The 1975 & Carly Rae Jepsen. "In your eyes" and "Guys" are already on the chart. "Rain on me" is likley to be somewhere in the top 10 next week and battling for possible number 1.
