Chart

the cm70 - March 10, 2016

New #1!

Notes:

  • Talay Riley scores his fourth #1 on the chart, as "101" climbs 3-1 for its first week atop; Talay's first since "Resonance" (w/ LuvBug) went #1 on the chart posted October 30, 2014. This hit a huge hot streak a few weeks into its run and didn't look back. This has a shot at staying at #1 next week, but "Looking Up" (1-2) is still pretty close.
  • "The Driver" drives into the Top 5, as it climbs 7-4 for a new peak. This one will likely be the next new #1, but it might not get there for awhile. It will have to hold up for a bit longer, but a couple weeks should be all it needs.
  • Skrizzly Adams re-enters the Top 10 with a bang, as "Tipping Point" climbs 11-8 for a new peak, beating its previous #10 peak that was set around a month ago. This is currently being promoted to pop radio, so this might get a resurgence on the chart, and hopefully become big for Skrizzly, but I have my doubts on the latter. This has an outside shot at hitting the Top 5, but this could end up being its peak if it doesn't have a good week next week.
  • Taking 22 weeks to do it, "Beautiful Drug" enters the Top 20 this week by going 21-19 for a new peak. This has definitely taken its time to get to where it is, but that's not a bad thing. This more than likely won't be able to hit the Top 10, as it is starting to slow down, but it could peak a bit higher with some negative songs above it.
  • As Charles Kelley approaches the #1 spot on the chart with "The Driver", "Dancing Around It" is making waves itself by blasting 31-23 for a new peak. This has yet to slow down, and has been putting up big updates week after week. Once "The Driver" starts to fall, this should be able to easily take its place. This has Top 10 written all over it, and could potentially fight for #1 in the future.
  • Talay Riley is also looking to set himself up for another #1 hit, as "Pink Cocaine" is just cruising. This week it hits another 10+ position move, as it goes 38-27 for a new peak. This and "Dancing Around It" likely will fight for #1 around the same time, but this has the upperhand despite being a bit lower.
  • "Burning House" moves into the Top 30 this week, moving a nice 37-30 for a new peak. This one is starting to come into its own and could be hitting the Top 20 shortly. It has a shot at Top 10 in the future, but not for awhile. Cam also debuts her current single, "Mayday", this week at #61. It has been starting to heat up as of late, and should be a decent hit on the chart. "Burning House" took a bit to breakthrough, and this might do the same. Both should be able to chart together, and nothing hindering either's success.
  • Duke Dumont climbs into the Top 40 this week with "Ocean Drive" moving 42-36 for a new peak. This should be an eventual Top 10 hit, and it should continue to move up quickly, but it'll likely slow down in a few weeks.
  • Run River North has themselves a monster week this week, and it could get bigger next week. "Run or Hide" blasts 47-37 for a new peak. This has been climbing very quickly and should continue to make huge climbs. This has #1 written all over it and should be the kickstart to an amazing era on the chart for these guys. They debut 3 songs from Drinking from a Salt Pond at the bottom of the chart this week: "Elam" at #66, "Winter Wind / Funeral (Parade)" at #68, and "Can't Come Down" at #70, and have the rest of the album on On the Rise. Next week should see two certain debuts and the rest of the tracks could see debuts, with the already debuted tracks moving up. We might be witnessing the start to an A Lesson Unlearnt era guys.
  • "Time Out" moves into the Top 50 this week, going 51-44 for a new peak. This has been moving up very nicely and could see itself turn into a big hit. Next week it'll seek the Top 40.
  • The Score capitalize on their debut last week with "On and On" moving up 66-60 for a new peak. This should turn into a decent sized hit for the duo. Right now, it looks poised for the Top 40, but with room to grow.
  • Chris Lane gets one of the six debuts this week, as "Fix" debuts at #63 this week. I usually don't like this kind of country music, blatantly cheesy pop country, but I love this. This could end up being a huge hit. This should have some big updates for the next few weeks.
  • After the breathtaking "MY DICK" (#66), 3OH!3 return to the chart with "MAD AT YOU", which debuts at #64. This one has equally comedic lines that "MY DICK" had, but this has a lot more appeal to it. It's catchier, and it's not as comedic driven that "MY DICK" was, but it still has its moments (ex. "Man, I got OCD, when it comes to that pussy"). This actually could shape up being a decent hit on the chart if it doesn't burn quickly, which is highly possible.
