Spice Girls and Billie Piper remain in locked positions for this week’s Number 1; Céline Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” achieves 5 x Platinum

The Spice Girls celebrate a third consecutive week at Number 1 with Viva Forever. The single is the girls’ ninth consecutive chart-topper on this list, following successes such as Wannabe and Who Do You Think You Are. The Spice Girls continue to face competition from Billie Piper and her hit Because We Want To. Billie Piper already spent one week above the list with her debut single, but she eyes to reclaim the crown position. Additionally, Billie Piper’s hit received a Gold Certification this week. As of this week, the single has amassed over 40,000 points.

Postmen enter the Top 10 with Cocktail, taken from their debut album “Documents”. Postmen is a Dutch hip hop-formation who are currently conquering the Netherlands. Their debut album is already a nationwide success, while their singles are climbing the charts as well. Cocktail is the group’s first single and became the boys’ breakthrough. On this list, Postmen score their first Top 10-hit with Cocktail. It has been a while since a Dutch rapper entered the charts, the last rapper to do so being one-hit-wonder Extince with Spraakwater. Postmen peaks at Number 10 this week.

Stardust scores the highest debut of the week. Stardust is a one-time musical effort consisting of producers Thomas Bangalter, Alan Braxe, and singer Benjamin Diamond. They enter the list with their only single Music Sounds Better with You. The song, which is based around a sample from the 1981 song Fate by Chaka Khan, was recorded in Paris by Daft House productions. Daft Punk already scored a huge hit on this list with Around the World, which peaked at Number 3 and amassed over 65,000 points. Stardust prove they can score a hit as well, entering with huge opening numbers at Number 19.

Eagle-Eye Cherry receives a Platinum Certification for his hit single Save Tonight. Eagle-Eye Cherry is a Swedish singer who is currently breaking through with his debut album “Desireless”. The album was written completely by himself in his bedroom, shortly after his father passed away. His extreme hard work has led to enormous success, as the album is topping the album charts worldwide. Save Tonight is the lead single of the album, which also has become a huge international success. On this list, the single spent three consecutive weeks at Number 2 behind LeAnn Rimes’s How Do I Live? and Shania Twain’s You’re Still the One. As of this week, the hit has amassed over 65,000 points.
