"Electricity" continues its reign at #1 for a third week as Josh, Emily, and Breagh all keep it at the top of their playlists. In fact, the entire top 3 remains unchanged this week as Kina Grannis tumbles down to #36 from #4. "Dance to This" by Troye Sivan & Ariana Grande takes it #4 spot, a new peak, while Ariana Grande adds another top 5 to her name with "God is a woman". Elsewhere in the top ten, we see the debut of the new Chainsmokers single, "This Feeling," featuring Kelsea Ballerini.
LANY is set to get another top ten soon as their latest single, "Thick and Thin" makes waves with Josh, Emm!e, and Emily this week, putting it at #15. "Seventeen" and "Tie Me Down" also debut after weeks of just missing out. Let's see if they can make a push to the upper part of the chart. Another big debut is the new Kesha single, "Here Comes the Change," which is off the On the Basis of Sex soundtrack. While the RBG biopic doesn't come out until Christmas, the single has already made moves in Braintree as it attempts to motivate young people to get to the polls in November. Kesha is the current leader of top tens. Can she add to that total?
Emm!e kept "Into You" and "Better Now" on the chart this week while Celina and Emily stuck to the Braintree Top 40 for the most part. Celina did manage to get her flavor of the week, Paolo Nutini, onto the Bubbling Under for the first time. We'll see if she puts him in power rotation next week and get him to debut. Daina just barely missed getting Nicki Minaj back onto the chart with "Barbie Tingz" and "Chun Li" while Catie just missed with Taylor Swift's "Don't Blame Me". Breagh Lipa kept all three Dua Lipa songs on the chart as well as "A-Punk" this week.
Next week, we see the release of Christine and the Queen's new album, Chris, which is sure to make some type of impact, thanks to Josh. We also see releases from Avril Lavigne, Rita Ora, and Rhys. Can anything top Dua Lipa or will she just be #1 forever? Maybe "God is a woman" can do it if Celina latches onto it as her motivation for the week. We'll have to see next week on the Braintree Top 40!
Here is this week's Bubbling Under:
1. Vampire Weekend - M79
2. NOTD - Been There Done That (feat. Tove Styrke)
3. Conrad Sewell - Changing
4. Paolo Nutini - No Other Way
5. Troye Sivan - Plum
