While The PoP Explo$ion returned with the glowing review of the new Charli XCX & Troye Sivan single, "1999," it wasn't enough to dethrone Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper as "Shallow" earns a 2nd week at #1. "1999" marks Charli XCX's 4th top five and Troye Sivan's 5th, tying him for the lead with Kesha. Thanks to Daina, Olly Murs & Snoop Dogg skyrocket into #3. This is both artists' peak position. "Bottled Up" and "Happier" both earn new peaks at #6 and 7, respectively while "Electricity" continues its slow march down the charts. You were fun while you lasted!
Just outside the top ten, we see debuts from Lady Gaga and Jess Glynne as they both have stellar weeks in Braintree. "La Vie En Rose' debuts at #12 while "Thursday" comes in at #13. The A Star Is Born soundtrack puts up 10 entries this week, thanks to Josh and Celina, while Jess Glynne fills 4 from her sophomore album, Always In Between, released this week. Another big debut is The 1975 with "It's Not Living (If It's Not With You)" at #17, thanks to Josh and Emily. The song has been out for less than 12 hours yet it managed to be the group's highest charting song this week. Could it rival Gaga for the top spot son? We'll have to see. Finally, we see "So Good So Fine When You're Messing With My Mind" debut at #39 by Benjamin Ingrosso. He previously hit the chart with "I Wouldn't Know" and "Paradise".
Emm!e failed to listened to a single piece of music while Catie and Sara listened to songs that no one else thought of this week. Daina came roaring back onto the charts as she added some new hip tunes to her "Refined Tastes" playlist. This included "Happier," "Natural," "Youngblood," and "Pretty Little Head" as well as the aforementioned "Moves". Celina spun the A Star Is Born soundtrack exclusively this week, which is the reason for the takeover. Emily gave rave reviews to the new Jess Glynne album, which is good since she's seeing her in concert next April. She also continues to love the new Hasley track. Breagh kept "One Kiss" alive and just barely missed out on getting Little Mix's "Shoutout to My Ex" back on the chart. While we're on the subject, Little Mix really disappointed with their new single, "Woman Like Me" with Nicki MInaj. It only managed to debut at #20 and has failed to create the amount of buzz one would expect from the top girl group in Braintree. Can they turn it around in the coming weeks or have they lost their appeal?
Next week, we see new releases from Calum Scott, Khalid, James Arthur (Celina, this is for you), and Troye Sivan as well as the release of Dua Lipa (Complete Edition) would could certainly cause some damage if Breagh Lipa gets her hands on it. We'll also see the full impact on The 1975's new single, which could makes the race to #1 next week even more exciting. Who will be the ones to topple "Shallow"? FInd out next week!
Here is this week's Bubbling Under:
1. Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper - I Don't Know What Love Is
2. Anderson .Paak - Tints (feat. Kendrick Lamar)
3. Bradley Cooper - Black Eyes
4. Lady Gaga - Diggin' My Grave
