Chart

James' Top 40 - August 26, 2015

Notes:

  • SafetySuit leads the pack for a second week in as many as it had been on the chart. "Heart Attack" has slowed down, and next week it could give it up. Right now, the Top 4 is very tight knit and it's anybody's game next week. Cold War Kids are starting to heat up with both "First" and "Thunderhearts", and "First" might actually be able to extend its 2 week reign to longer soon.
  • "Cut the Cord" edges into the Top 5, going 6-5. This might be as high as it can get temporarily, as "Nepal" and "Feel It" (10-8) have a lot more momentum than it, and the Top 4 is miles ahead of the rest of the competition. This also pushes down "End of the World" 3-6 as it is looking pretty bad right now. It might be out of the Top 10 quickly, but it shouldn't start dropping drastically anytime soon. It just seems to have lost its once brightly lit spark.
  • USS score their first Top 10 with "Nepal" going 12-7, and only needing 4 weeks to do so. This one is probably the only song that could potentially break into the Top 4 ("Feel It" slowed down a bit), and this could actually go #1 if it can keep putting up solid updates for a few more weeks.
  • The Weeknd looks at two big climbs this week, as "Can't Feel My Face" goes 17-13 for a new peak, while "The Hills" finally breaks out of its range, as it goes 29-24. "The Hills" has been sticking in the #28 and #29 spots its first 6 weeks on the chart. Both were aided by Beauty Behind the Madness leaking, and then some for falling songs.
  • Two songs blast into the Top 20, as "Locked Away" (25-19) and "Back Together" (26-20) grab the final two spots of the Top 20. These were definitely in the right place at the right time, as there are a lot of songs starting to fall in the 15-30 range.
  • "Good For You" makes a surprise re-entry on the chart, gaining a new peak as it reenters at #35 this week. The explicit version of the song was just released and reignited the track for me. This actually might be able to go higher, and peak in the mid 20s.
  • The Neighbourhood score a debut with "R.I.P. 2 My Youth" at #37, as it skips over On the Rise. The Neighbourhood has only scored one hit on my chart with "Sweater Weather" hitting #6, and also saw On the Rise with "Afraid", "Jealou$y", and "#icanteven". This has the potential to go Top 10.
