New #1!
Notes:
- Cold War Kids rule the chart for another time, as "First" climbs back to the top, going 3-1, to give itself 3 weeks at #1. It dethrones "Heart Attack" (1-2) this week, and is actually looking at a few more weeks atop.
- As Cold War Kids rule the top, they also score another Top 3 charter as "Thunderhearts" climbs 4-3 for a new peak. This edged out "A Taste of Silver" (2-4) for the final spot in the Top 3, and it was a big one for the track. This also has a shot at #1, as does everything in the Top 4 right now.
- The Top 4 doesn't look like it is going to change for another few weeks, as next week should contain the same songs yet again, and the order might reshuffle again. As of now, it looks like "Heart Attack" might settle for the #4 spot, while "A Taste of Silver" and "Thunderhearts" duke it out for the 2 and 3 spots. But then again, not everything is set in stone for next week as we are just getting started.
- "Nepal" climbs into the Top 5, going 7-5 for a new peak. This has been climbing rapidly since it debuted, but it looks like this'll be forced to hit a wall next week and probably end up staying at #5. The Top 4 is far and above the rest of the chart, and it's a pretty big hill to climb. This has a shot past the Top 5 probably in two weeks time.
- "Shut Up and Dance" scores its 52nd week on the chart, and for those that don't know math, equates to a full year on the chart. This has definitely had a very successful run, and is probably going to finish with one of the highest chart runs in my chart history. I don't have a list, but it's definitely done well. Not too many songs make it to a year (I'm saying this as "Never Stop" has been on for over 3 years lol), so it's quite a big feat for any song.
- 3 songs enter the Top 30, as "Could Have Been Me" (31-27), "R.I.P. 2 My Youth" (37-29), and "Yin Yang" (33-30) find themselves with new peaks this week. The latter two should make another big climb next week, but "Could Have Been Me" might have a little trouble. It does look it could peak in the upper 20s due to a lot of songs dropping above it, so look for this to move up, but not as substantially as the other two.
- "Mountain At My Gates" takes the top debut at #31 this week, skipping over On the Rise. This probably had enough last week to appear at the bottom of On the Rise, but it was left out. The play mark went from 4 to 18 over the charting week, and really caught steam on Monday. I'm starting to really like this, and this should be able to get some big climbs in over the next month.
- The second debut belongs to Kangaroo Knife Fight, as they chart their first song on the chart with "It's You" coming in at #36. It spent 3 weeks on On the Rise before debuting. This actually could be a slow climber to a good peak. I haven't been listening to it an awful lot, but I do love it every time it comes on. This definitely has a good shot a long run assuming it's able to climb. I think these guys might be able to take home the trophy for the best band name also lol.
- Andrew Ripp scores the last debut this week at #40 with "Animal". This is Andrew's second charter as "Falling For the Beat" peaked at #6 last year, though it didn't last very long (only 8 weeks). This probably won't end up getting to where "Falling For the Beat" did, but this should definitely last longer and be able to get a Top 20 peak with time.
